Rejoicing Our Mother and My Niece’s Birthday at Paseo Tabogon
What’s up Hive! It’s me @diamondinthesky. Last April 29, 2024, the whole family is celebrating the birthday of my grumpy, yet beautiful Niece and our dearest Mama.
In the morning, my sister in law went very early to the market in order to get and buy fresh pork, vegetables such as cabbage and chayote, and spices such as green chili, ginger, onions, and spring onions for cooking a pork soup.
We decided to cook and prepare Nilat-ang Baboy (a Pork Soup with Vegetables) and Sinugbang Isda (a Grilled fish) for our lunch because it is the birthday of the two important people in our family. It is only a simple celebration. We do not have much, but we are contributing and helping each other to make our niece and Mama’s day memorable.
My brother also wakes up around 4:30 in the morning and went to the beach where the fishermen drop their fresh catch such as fish and squid. He is task to buy a kilo of fresh fish called Gutob (Mackerel fish). My brother and sister in law cook the pork and grilled the fish and we share the food and eat lunch together in a small shade in front of our mother’s house.
My mother and niece do not have a clue or knowledge about going and eating barbeque in Paseo Tabogon in the evening for dinner. We live in the town of Tabogon, but we have not tried to visit and eat on the restaurant in Paseo Tabogon for this year 2024.
Our family is always in a budget mood due to high prices of the groceries and everyday expenses that we have right now such as transportation, house utilities such as electricity and water bills that is why it is rare for us to eat outside like in the restaurant. We always cook and eat at home.
We also heard from our neighbors who visited the place recently that there is a Carnival and a Ferries Wheel in Usbaw Tabogon, it is the opposite part of Paseo Tabogon. The said fair will stopover on the area until the fiesta of our town which is on May 20, 2024.
So, my brothers, my sister, and I decided to rejoice and celebrate the birthday of our beloved mother and niece on the said place so that the kids will also enjoy the carnival and the ferries wheel.
Around 5:00 in the afternoon, the birthday girls were surprised because we told them to prepare because we will eat dinner in Paseo Tabogon for the extension of their birthday celebration. The kids are also jumping due to happiness and they are very excited already to be on the place.
We are riding the multicab (a small truck) of my eldest brother in going to the place. Others are driving and riding their motorcycle. We are like sardine fish in a can when we were inside the multicab, yet everybody is happy and cannot wait to be in Paseo Tabogon.
When we arrived on the place, I am really surprised. We are all surprised. It is our first time to be there since the place was renovated last year. There is a lot of alteration on the place. Before, the place is just called Pantalan sa Tabogon (Tabogon Port), and now, it is called Paseo Tabogon.
The place was developed and upgraded. Although there are corners which are not finish yet, the forms and the overall appearance of the area is undeniably good. The area already has more colors, more light, and there is more life on it.
After mesmerizing, we look for a good spot for everybody to stay and eat. We decided to order our foods in John Juan Mountain Barbeque. The owner is my Mother’s relative and also her neighbor in Mama’s previous village. We choose to order over there not because the owner is my Mother’s relative and neighbor, but because their foods are truly delicious and affordable.
My niece and I ordered two serves of Tinibuok nga Bisayang Manok (a native chicken soup), 50 pieces of pork barbeque, 10 pieces of hotdog barbeque, 10 pieces of chorizo barbeque, 15 pieces of tina-e or isaw (the intestine of the chicken) and 5 pieces of chicken skin barbeque and bottles of soda, Mountain Dew and Coca-Cola.
The native chicken soup is only 475 pesos per serve. The pork barbeque is only 15 pesos per stick, while the hotdog barbeque, chorizo barbeque, and chicken intestine barbeque is only 10 pesos per stick. The chicken skin barbeque is only 35 pesos per stick and the soft drink or soda is only 25 pesos per bottle. We do not buy rice over there. We are bringing our own cooked rice from home in order to save a little amount of money.
We also do not consume some of the barbeques, so we decided to just bring it home. However, the native chicken turns into a Dino (a Dinosaur) because it was consumed and only bones were left.
After we eat, we went to the opposite part of Paseo Tabogon, on the area where the Carnival and the Ferries Wheel situated. The kids are very excited to ride the famous ferries wheel in town.
In order for the kids to ride, I bought tickets for them.
The ticket is 50 pesos each and 9 of them wanted to onboard on the ferries wheel. So, I need to pay 450 pesos for all of them. Fortunately, the operator of the ride decided to just give one free ticket, then I able to save 50 pesos.
All of us were so happy while watching the kids happy and enjoying the night. It is so funny because they do not want to go home anymore.
No amount of money can pay the happiness that we have that time.

It really taste good Ma'am @chimegipamus for only 475 pesos per serve. I hope you can dropped by the area if you happen to travel in the Northern part of Cebu or when you passed by the town Ma'am. The area is good when it is late afternoon until night time because it is not too warm.
Lunch looked very relaxed under the trees where family united to celebrate. Outing is always a highlight when entertainment is laid on for the children after a hearty traditional dinner. Your niece and Mom must have made some special memories together with the family on their birthday.
