In the Philippines, celebrating the christening of children aged one and below is a significant event, usually attended by godparents chosen by the parents. Last weekend, my partner and his colleagues were invited as the godfathers to their colleague's daughter's christening celebration, and they happily accepted the invitation. It's believed that having more Godchildren brings more blessings to your life, a belief that's widely held in the Philippines. When parents choose you as Godparents, it means they trust you and consider you responsible enough to be the second parents of their children. It's a big responsibility and obligation that comes with being chosen.

SAN LORENZO PARISH CHURCH, TISA, CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES

The San Lorenzo Parish Church in Tisa, Cebu City, Philippines hosted the Christening celebration, which we all attended. Prior to the ceremony, a short seminar was conducted to guide attendees on the various steps involved in the celebration. The seminar covered important details such as lighting candles, donning white cloth, and other crucial aspects. This was especially helpful for those who were attending a christening for the first time, as christenings in the Philippines typically involve a large group of children. Following the guidelines provided during the seminar ensured that the celebration proceeded smoothly and on time.

After the Christening celebration, we then headed to the lunch reception, which was their home at Barangay Tisa as well, which is a few minutes away from the church.

In the Philippines, no special occasion is complete without lechon, the whole roasted pig. It's a staple in celebrations, from christenings and weddings to birthdays and more. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out on one of the best ways to enjoy pork, and it's a favorite of Filipinos.

Here are the other Filipino favorites.

After eating lunch, we then had karaoke and we indeed had so much fun.

What a blessed day indeed. Ciao!☺︎♡
