Hello my dear Hivers of the @family-friends community. Hope you're all well and safe.
Today, I got the chance to eat with my learners. I usually eat with my co-teachers during lunch. But today, they were on official business.
They are out to play as representatives of our cluster. They are playing basketball and volleyball today. This is part of our ongoing municipal wide teacher's day celebration. The main event will be held on Friday.
So today I got to eat with my learners here in our classroom. My learners brought with them their lunch because their house is far from the school. To save time and energy they just bring their lunch.
Eating with them feel so humbling. I remember my days back in high school. I also bring with me my lunch back then because our school is 3 kilometers away from home. We had to walk more than an hour forth and back to our school every morning and afternoon.
We don't have a motorcycle back then. In fact, only few have it. We're already lucky if there are people who would let us ride with them if their motorcycle or tricycle is vacant. But that happens seldom.
During lunch back in my high school days, I eat with my classmate's who also bring their lunch. Just like these children, we also share our foods specially our viands. That was one of the memorable part of my high school days.
We would talk about random things while eating and laugh to funny jokes. The same way, I saw how these children have fun while eating. Sharing what happened during their classes earlier. The view just brought me to a trip down memory lane during my student life in high school.
I even shared my viand with them because I saw most of their viand is a scrambled egg which I can relate so much. It's the same viand I used to have also back then. It's the cheapest, that's why. Sometimes dried fish.
While writing this, I felt so emotional. My tears are falling but I'm holding it back because I'm afraid someone might see it, haha. The scene just brought me back to my days in high school. Despite the poverty we're in, I'm so eager to study. Regardless of the tiresome walk forth and back to school and not having enough to eat.
Looking at these pupils, I felt humbled. I have gone better than my past. I hope these children persevere in their studies as well. So in the future, they will look back at this time as something that has made them stronger and better people.
Thanks for reading this far. Til my next post!
