Casi iniciamos la Navidad, una de las etapas más lindas del año, no solo por la carga de historia que trae esta fecha, sino también por estar situada en el último mes, así como abriéndole paso a un año nuevo.
Mis recuerdos de pequeño sobre la Navidad, son indiferentes, no memorizo momentos que hayan marcado algún aspecto especial para mí, reconozco que provengo de una familia con poca cultura navideña, quizás también tiene que ver con las características de la época en Cuba, estamos hablando de los años 1990 aproximadamente, la tendencia era a celebrar otras fechas menos importantes, pero a las que se le daba mayor atención social.

Siempre escuchaba a mis padres decir que cuando ellos eran pequeños se hacían muchas celebraciones en esta fecha y hasta contaban historias recordando el momento. Y también nos decían: ya en Cuba no se celebra la Nochebuena; las Pascuas y la Navidad, eso se hacía antes de...,¡eran otros tiempos!
No fue hasta hace 13 años aproximadamente, cuando conocí a mi actual pareja, compañero de vida y su familia, cuando comencé a entender con más claridad de qué se trataba la Navidad, época del año de alegría y felicidad para todos, por múltiples razones, donde cada familia tiene su propio ritual, atendiendo a su cultura.

Lo que más me gusta de este momento es estar en familia, con los preparativos en el hogar para festejar, colocar el árbol de navidad me emociona, sus adornos, el nacimiento de Cristo y las luces, es como una obra de arte colocar cada cosa en su lugar, de forma armónica, para que quede bonito y sea la atracción de todos.
La navidad pasada, mi pareja y yo la pasamos en nuestro nuevo hogar y por determinadas razones, económicas fundamentalmente, no pudimos comprar un arbolito para la ocasión, por lo que decidimos hacer nuestros propios adornos navideños, con algunas partes recicladas de adornos ya deteriorados. Pusimos manos a la obra, utilizamos lo que tuvimos al alcance de las manos y echamos a andar nuestra creatividad. ¡Quedaron muy lindos nuestros adornos navideños!

Como es acostumbrado hicimos una cena navideña muy cubana, con arroz congrí, carne de cerdo, vianda y ensalada de vegetales, mi suegra es excelente cocinera, de todo lo que más me gustó fue la ensalada que disfrutamos bien tarde en la noche, le queda especial, deliciosa, como para romper la dieta que ya no hacemos.

Para este año aún no tenemos claridad de lo que haremos en Navidad, pero algo tengo claro, lo pasaremos en familia, haremos una cena como las acostumbradas en los últimos años, quizás con menos recursos, pero con el esfuerzo de todos, la ayuda de la familia y con mucho amor, esto último es el ingrediente principal. Tengo planificado visitar a mis hermanas y mi papá y terminar el día como siempre, con la cena de mi suegra querida, pues ese es un momento que marca la diferencia en un día tan especial.
¿Arbolito de navidad para este año? ¡No estoy seguro! Por alguna razón en Cuba no existe un arbolito de navidad que se pueda comprar con el salario de un trabajador asalariado, pero los adornos de navidad de este año los diseñaremos nuevamente y en una publicación posterior lo compartiremos con todos ustedes.

¡Tengo muchos deseos para esta navidad! Entre ellos, que todos puedan pasar un lindo día, en familia, con las personas más cercanas y queridas, que sean felices y sobre todo que cada niño que exista pueda tener de regalo un juguete, un poco de ropa y comida, para que en el futuro, cuando sean adultos, no digan que tienen recuerdos indiferentes de la Navidad.

It was not until about 13 years ago, when I met my current partner, life partner and his family, that I began to understand more clearly what Christmas was all about, a time of the year of joy and happiness for everyone, for many reasons, where each family has its own ritual, according to their culture.

What I like most about this time is being with the family, with the preparations at home to celebrate, putting up the Christmas tree excites me, its ornaments, the birth of Christ and the lights, it is like a work of art to place everything in its place, in a harmonious way, so that it looks beautiful and is the attraction of all.
Last Christmas, my partner and I spent it in our new home and for certain reasons, mainly economic, we could not buy a tree for the occasion, so we decided to make our own Christmas decorations, with some recycled parts of already deteriorated ornaments. We got to work, used whatever we could get our hands on and got creative. Our Christmas ornaments turned out very nice!

As usual we had a very Cuban Christmas dinner, with rice congrí, pork, vianda and vegetable salad, my mother-in-law is an excellent cook, what I liked the most was the salad that we enjoyed late at night, it was special, delicious, as if to break the diet that we no longer do.

For this year we are still not clear about what we will do for Christmas, but one thing is clear, we will spend it as a family, we will make a dinner as we are used to in the last years, maybe with less resources, but with the effort of everyone, the help of the family and with a lot of love, this last one is the main ingredient. I plan to visit my sisters and my dad and end the day as usual, with dinner with my beloved mother-in-law, because that is a moment that makes the difference on such a special day.
Christmas tree for this year? I'm not sure! For some reason in Cuba there is no Christmas tree that can be bought with the salary of a salaried worker, but this year's Christmas decorations we will design them again and in a later post we will share it with all of you.
