Hello my dear Hivers, good day!
Birthday Celebration Tradition
Today, let me share with you how we celebrated my uncle’s birthday. This uncle is from my mother’s side—her sibling. We have always been used to celebrate whenever there’s a birthday on my mother’s side, especially for her siblings and parents.
Preparation for the Celebration
When I got home from school, my mom immediately told me that we were going to have a budol feast, so I started getting ready.
Minutes later, my younger cousin called us to eat. The one who arranged the food on the table was my other uncle’s wife, Richard’s wife. Actually, I have seven uncles.
Anyway, when we arrived, some of them were already outside, but the food wasn’t fully set yet because the person who bought the lechon manok (roast chicken) had just arrived.
At that time, my dad was still asleep, and we didn’t wake him up since he hadn’t had enough rest. While my aunt was finishing setting up the lechon manok, my mom set aside some food for my dad. We also had buko juice and gulaman for dessert. My mom got the desserts first so she wouldn’t disturb my aunt, who was still arranging the table.
The Birthday Celebration
Minutes later, they placed soft drinks on the table. Coke is my family’s favorite, except for me (I don’t really drink soft drinks anymore since I had a UTI before).
After that, my uncle Floyd blew out his birthday candle, and of course, we sang Happy Birthday to him. Little did I know, some of my uncles were secretly holding eggs, planning to crack them on the birthday celebrant! Some of them even missed capturing the moment on video because they didn’t know about the plan, as my other cousins hid the eggs so well.
Because of this, my uncle Floyd decided to take a shower first before eating. Meanwhile, some of us, including a few of my uncles, started eating ahead.
After we finished, my other uncles had their turn to eat.
And that’s all for today, my dear Hivers—see you in my next blog!
That celebration looks great, with all that food to share and the birthday boy looks happy too. I hope everyone had a great time, sharing a good time with family. Cheers!
It really was a fun celebration! Good food, great company, and lots of laughs. Cheers!🥰
