Hello, my dear Hivers!

I was a student intern at the Probation Office, and as part of our internship, we are regularly engaged in the LEAP Program, where we serve as one of the head facilitators. In this blog, I would like to share with you my experience from one of our monthly programs, a day of learning, teamwork, and fun moments worth remembering.

That day, I got early to the venue, which was at the City Hall. Because the terminal is quite far from the area, I took a tricycle. Upon arriving, there were only a few student interns and staff from the Probation Office. To pass the time while waiting for everyone, I started prepping for my part because I was assigned a topic to discuss and lead one of the activities later on.

We were required to wear our clinical white uniform with white shoes for the day, and everyone looked neat and professional.

After a while, the long, awaited lecture started. First to present was one of my groupmates, as we were only three persons, members of the LEAP Family session, set to report. Although we were only three, the support we received from the other interns who helped run the activities was important. We really needed the extra assistance since the number of the LEAP Family participants was quite large, in total, more than 100! Thankfully, the City Hall’s Bluetooth speaker was loud enough, and we even had extension wires prepared to make everything run smoothly.

When we did the activity, the probationers were very interactive and actively took part in it.

A probationer from my group even volunteered to be their representative, which made me smile as it indicated how comfortable they were and how much they enjoyed the session. We could see that our rehearsals were not for nothing as they were forming connections and engaging in conversations.

We took a group photo together with my co interns after the program to memorialize the moment. No one could have been sad in this picture, it was very gratifying to our side of the cooperation to be so visible and to feel, at the same time, that we have given a nice day to the participants. Definitely after our picture taking, we began to organize our lunch, and this included deciding where to eat and what food to buy.

Right after that, we went back home. The trip was very calming as we had wonderful view, well maintained and green areas along the way.

That’s a wrap for today’s blog, my dear Hivers! Thank you so much for reading.
