Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii, what's up? Do you often go to museums and art galleries? How often do you go out with friends on plans you made up while you were chit chatting?
This past Thursday after I attended at a meeting in my university, I met up with my friends that I had a while without seeing, one of them wanted to visit the Museum of Natural Science in Bellas Artes, Caracas, and invited me and other friends to go with him. Let me tell you how it went. 👇👇👇👇👇
From the university we took the subway till Bellas Artes, part of the center of the city, there we got out of the subway station and for our surprise it was heavy raining! The streets were flooding and seemed that the water was going to enter to the station. As it was raining so much we couldn't get to the Museums Plaza and so go to the Science Museum, we then decided to go to the art gallery in front of us as any other interesting place was far from us.
Hoooola, ¿qué más? ¿Van a menudo a museos y galerías de arte? ¿Suelen salir con sus amigos por planes que se inventaron mientras charlaban?
Este jueves pasado, después de asistir a una reunión en mi universidad, me encontré con mis amigos que tenía tiempo que no los veía, uno de ellos quería visitar el Museo de Ciencias Naturales en Bellas Artes, Caracas, y me invitó a mí y a otros amigos a ir con él. Déjenme les cuento como nos fue. 👇👇👇👇👇
Desde la universidad tomamos el metro hasta Bellas Artes, parte del centro de la ciudad, allí salimos de la estación del metro y para nuestra sorpresa ¡un palo de agua! Las calles estaban inundadas y parecía que el agua iba a entrar a la estación. Como llovía tanto no pudimos llegar a la Plaza de los Museos y así ir al Museo de Ciencias, entonces decidimos ir a la galería de arte que teníamos enfrente ya que cualquier otro lugar interesante estaba lejos de nosotros.

The entire complex of the gallery has two entrances, both connect to each other through a long corridor aside the exhibition halls and some spaces that surround it, I liked the frames through the corridor
Todo el complejo de la galería tiene dos entradas, ambas se conectan entre sí a través de un largo pasillo a un lado de las salas de exposición y algunos espacios que la rodean, me gustaron los marcos a lo largo del pasillo

Once there we had to leave our backpacks and the rest our stuff to be able to visit the place, there were a lot of paintings of historical heroes and things used during the independence war displayed on glass frames. My favorite paintings and art displayed were about other things, though.
Una vez allí tuvimos que dejar nuestros bolsos y el resto de nuestras cosas para poder pasar, había un montón de pinturas de héroes históricos y cosas utilizadas durante la guerra de la independencia expuestas en marcos de cristal. Sin embargo, mis pinturas y obras de arte favoritas eran sobre otras cosas.
As an architect student I couldn´t help but notice how the spaces were divided, wonder about how the light got in and how it was distributed, among other things. The building was made using two type of modules, a big one followed by a small one with not all walls built to the roof to let the air flow I assume.
Como estudiante de arquitectura no pude evitar fijarme en cómo se dividían los espacios, preguntarme cómo entraba la luz y cómo se distribuía, entre otras cosas. El edificio se construyó utilizando dos tipos de módulos, uno grande seguido de otro pequeño, sin todas las paredes construidas hasta el tejado para dejar que fluyera el aire creo.
There's something about the stairs that I really did not like, perhaps because you had to climb three steps to the front and then turn left to climb the rest before the break. I feel that the space could be used better so it was more comfortable, also, look at them, they do not invite you to go upstairs.
Hay algo en las escaleras que realmente no me gustó, quizás porque había que subir tres escalones hacia el frente y luego girar a la izquierda para subir el resto hasta el descanso. Siento que se podría aprovechar mejor el espacio para que fuera más cómodo, además, míralas, no te invitan a subir.
There was a special room were you could interact with some lights but we got there too late, it was already closed. In the second floor there were interesting exhibitions, one regarding light and colors, other about feminism and one about stories of the people that emigrated the country.
Había una sala especial donde podías interactuar con unas luces pero llegamos demasiado tarde, ya estaba cerrada. En el segundo piso había exposiciones interesantes, una sobre la luz y los colores, otra sobre feminismo y otra sobre historias de la gente que emigró del país.

The second floor used natural and artificial lighting, natural light coming from those skylights on the roof that I personally did not liked, I felt that with other design they could have brought more light to the inside and so use less electricity.
As it stopped raining we went to the Museum Plaza to try visit the museum we originally we wanted to go to, we arrived there at 3:54pm and it was closed, a sign there said they close at 4 so impossible to see the whole museum in 6 minutes.
El segundo piso utilizaba iluminación natural y artificial, la natural provenía de esos tragaluces en el techo que personalmente no me gustaron, sentí que con otro diseño podrían haber llevado más luz al interior y así utilizar menos electricidad.
Como dejó de llover nos fuimos a la Plaza de los Museos a intentar visitar el museo al que originalmente queríamos ir, llegamos allí a las 3:54pm y estaba cerrado, un cartel allí decía que cerraban a las 4:00pm así que imposible ver todo el museo en 6 minutos.

As we couldn't visit any of these museums we went to the Sambil la Candelaria mall that it was a couple streets away from where we were. On the way there we found a beautiful kitten apparently called "Feo", ugly in spanish; he was so cute, we were even offered to take him with us as he didn´t want to separate from us, none of us could take him so we left him where we found him.
Como no pudimos visitar ninguno de estos museos nos fuimos al centro comercial Sambil la Candelaria que estaba a un par de calles de donde estábamos. Por el camino nos encontramos con un precioso gatito que al parecer se llamaba "Feo"; era muy cuchi, que incluso nos ofrecieron llevárnoslo con nosotros ya que no quería separarse de nosotros, ninguno podía llevárselo así que lo dejamos donde lo encontramos.

Once in the mall, as we hadn't had lunch we were looking for something to eat, I've been there before and knew this place that sold ice cream, after walking basically the whole building as i was guiding and got lost, we finally found the place and ate ice cream there.
Una vez en el centro comercial, como no habíamos almorzado buscamos algo para comer, yo ya había venido antes y conocía un lugar que vendía helados, después de caminar básicamente todo el edificio, ya que los estaba guiando y me perdí, finalmente encontramos el lugar y comimos helado allí.

After that, everybody went home and that was my day with friends! I absolutely recommend to go visit places with friends and have something sweet after.
