Things to learn from David’s services and assignment

in HeartChurch4 years ago

The book of Acts of the apostles chapter 13:36 in the New King James Version says

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried. NKJV

Bu the special grace of God, I have been opportune to read through the scriptures from Genenis to Revelation, and I could deduce from that that there is is to the best of my knowledge, no man in the entire scripture that served God like David.

This so because right from birth till death, his life of service was what led him into fulfillment of his assignment. In other words, David fulfilled his destiny on the platform of service, as our text says. Until you understand service, destiny fulfillment is not in sight.

Any man that hates service already hates destiny. You will never know your specific assignment and destiny if you do not care to know about general service.

David operated in several capacities at different times in the bible as occasion demanded. David was willing to do whatever was necessary to salvage a situation in his time.
When the sheep of his father needed shepherding, he made himself available, even when his brothers made themselves unavailable.

One thing that endears him to me is that when there was need to save the sheep from the lion and the bear, David rose to the challenge by becoming a valiant fighter on the spot. Thus, he never shied away from taking responsibility no matter how hard it was.

Also, when the children of Israel were faced with an embarrassment that made them to run and hid in the caves for fear of being killed by the Philistine who for years boasted that they should provide someone to fight him. Again, David decided and became a champion that will prevent Israel from going into slavery.

On pursuit by Saul, he met with six hundred indebted, discontented and distressed men who needed help. He decided to become a people developer, and he turned those men to mighty warriors who also killed giants and fought all manner of battles.

This men later formed the national guard of Israel, and were popularly known as The Mighty Men of David.

David didn’t stop there alone. He became a psalmist; he was the one that succored Saul when evil spirits visited him. David was a song writer, he is an inventor of musical equipment, he was a music director, he was an army warrior and captain, etc. Service made David to become so many things all in a bid to serve his generation.

If you will take on service today, you will see all manner of potentials emerge from out of you in Jesus Name, amen.
