In the synagogue, Jesus spoke of his mission to free captives from sin. His speech was interrupted by a scream of horror. A mad man ran out of the crowd and shouted: “Do you leave that to you, Jesus of Nazareth? You have come to destroy us; I know who you are, holy of God. "

Jesus forbade the devil, saying, "Shut up and get out of him." And the demon, having thrown him into the middle of the synagogue, came out of him without harming him in the least ". (Mar. 1, 24. 25; Luke 4, 34. 35)

The cause of this man's suffering was also hidden in his own life. He was seduced by the delights of sin and wanted to make his life a complete vacation.

Intemperance and debauchery perverted all the noble traits of his character, and Satan possessed him completely. Regret for what has been done has come too late. When he was ready to sacrifice riches and pleasures to restore his human dignity, he found himself powerless and completely under the control of the enemy.

In the presence of the Savior, the desire to free himself awoke in him; but the devil resisted the power of Christ. When a man tried to ask Jesus for help, an evil spirit spoke through his mouth and screamed with torment and fear. The Demonic was partly aware that he was in the presence of the One who could set him free; but when he tried to reach out and grab his powerful hand, the other's will stopped him; Another's words fell from his lips.

The fight between Satan's power and his own desire to free himself was terrible. It seemed that the tormented man would lose his life in the fight against the enemy that destroyed the dignity of the man in him. But the Savior spoke with authority and released the captive. Now an obsessed man stood before a surprised, free, and completely self-controlled people.

With joyous exclamations, he glorified God for his deliverance. The eyes in which the fire of madness had recently burned now shone with reason; Tears of gratitude flowed from them.

People were silent in amazement. But as soon as people were able to speak again, they wondered aloud: “What is this? What is this new teaching, that He commands the unclean spirits with authority, and they obey him "? (Mark 1:27)

Many people flirt with sin, thinking that they can break ties at any time; but they let themselves go more and more, until they find themselves in the power of someone who is stronger than they are. They cannot escape this mysterious power.

God does not take possession of our mind without our consent; everyone has the freedom to choose which power to control. No one has fallen too low, no one has sunk enough not to find liberation through Christ. Those who wish to make a covenant with God will not be left to Satan or to the weaknesses of their own nature.

From now on, followers of Christ should view Satan as a defeated enemy. On the cross, Christ triumphed over them; He wants you to accept this victory as your own.

The rainbow of promise that surrounds the heavenly throne is a constant testimony that "God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

Testify above all. the universe that God will never leave his children in their fight against evil. While the throne of God remains, the rainbow gives confidence in its strength and protection.
