Good day dear friends of the #homesolutions community. It's been a while since I shared a post in the community and it's because of school runs. I've got a little break from school today and decided to visit home and guess what, it seemed like I brought bad luck.

On arriving home today, I noticed the power supply was poor due to lack of voltage. Most of the appliances at home couldn't function due to low voltage. Some of the light bulbs couldn't light up while some blew up. Since we had no fuel in the generator and we are yet to install solar panels, we had no choice but to manage the poor power supply.
Al llegar a casa hoy, noté que el suministro eléctrico era deficiente debido a la baja tensión. La mayoría de los electrodomésticos no funcionaban por el bajo voltaje. Algunas bombillas no encendían y otras se fundieron. Como no teníamos combustible en el generador y aún no hemos instalado los paneles solares, no nos quedó más remedio que conformarnos con el suministro eléctrico deficiente.
One of the appliances I couldn't turn off was the fridge and the microwave. I needed the microwave to prepare my dinner and the fridge/freezer must function to have chilled water and preserve food items. I felt these two appliances are safe since they are connected to the stabilizer.
Uno de los electrodomésticos que no pude apagar fue el refrigerador y el microondas. Necesitaba el microondas para preparar la cena y el refrigerador/congelador debía funcionar para tener agua fría y conservar los alimentos. Pensaba que estos dos electrodomésticos eran seguros, ya que están conectados al estabilizador.
A few minutes later after making my meal, I began getting this smell of burning appliances. I tried tracing the smell but before I could realize that it's from the kitchen socket, the socket had already blown. The smell had been emanating from the burnt fuse from the socket. I also observed that the fridge was off and the microwave wasn't coming up.
Unos minutos después de preparar la cena, empecé a percibir un olor a quemado. Intenté localizar el origen del olor, pero antes de darme cuenta de que venía del enchufe de la cocina, este ya se había fundido. El olor provenía del fusible quemado. También observé que el refrigerador estaba apagado y el microondas no encendía.
Since we really needed the fridge to preserve the food items, we had to call an electrician to fix the burnt socket. The electrician couldn't fix the low voltage issue because the issue wasn't from home but directly from the general transformer.
The electrician was able to replace the socket with a stronger and brand new load breaker knife switch.
Como necesitábamos el refrigerador para conservar los alimentos, tuvimos que llamar a un electricista para que arreglara el enchufe quemado. El electricista no pudo solucionar el problema de bajo voltaje porque la falla no provenía de casa, sino directamente del transformador general.
El electricista reemplazó el enchufe con un interruptor de cuchilla nuevo y más resistente.
The load breaker knife switch was fixed and connected to the stabilizer as usual. At this point, we were confident to plug in the fridge and microwave to the stabilizer connected to the knife switch.
The fridge regained its power supply even though it wasn't functioning optimally due to low voltage.
El interruptor de cuchilla se reparó y se conectó al estabilizador como de costumbre. En ese momento, nos sentimos seguros al conectar el refrigerador y el microondas al estabilizador conectado al interruptor de cuchilla.
El refrigerador recuperó la alimentación eléctrica, aunque no funcionaba de manera óptima debido al bajo voltaje.
The electrician assured us of the durability and safety of the load breaker knife switch, giving us reasons why it's a better choice than a normal wall socket when powering heavy home appliances.
El electricista nos aseguró la durabilidad y seguridad del interruptor de cuchilla del disyuntor de carga, explicándonos por qué es una mejor opción que un enchufe de pared normal para alimentar electrodomésticos de alto consumo.

Hola!!! Hace mucho que no pasabas por aquí, pero veo que has estado ocupado con tus estudios.
El tema de la electricidad es bastante complicado,porque es tan necesaria y con las fluctuaciones dañan los equipos.
Me alegra que lograrán una solución y tu técnico tiene razón, esta toma es mejor
