As I told you a few weeks ago, a new water storage tank was installed, since the other one that supplied the lower part of the house broke, and that weekend the new tank was installed and all the pipe connections were made.
One of the reasons we think the tank may have burst is that it usually remained empty for several days. The tank often lasts three to four weeks when full, and the water cycle is 40 days, almost six weeks, assuming no main pipes break.

Hola amigos de Hive y @home.solutions, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien y estén pasando una gran semana.
Cómo les había contado hace unas semanas atrás, se instaló un nuevo tanque para almacenar agua, ya que el otro que surtía la parte baja de la casa se rompió, y ese fin de semana se subió el tanque nuevo y se hicieron todas las conexiones de las tuberías.
Unos de los motivos que pensamos que pudo causar que se haya reventado el tanque es que generalmente este se quedaba varios días vacío, el tanque a menudo dura de tres a cuatros semanas lleno y el ciclo de agua es de 40 dias, casi 6 semanas, y eso sí, si no se rompe alguna tubería matriz.
When it is empty and exposed to the harsh sun that shines every day here in Margarita, the tank bakes and eventually cracks to the point of bursting. To prevent this from happening, I decided to make a connection so that the tank can be refilled with water from the 14,000-liter tank at the bottom of the yard.
Next to the pipe that comes from the street and fills this tank is another pipe that comes from the yard tank and fills the second-level tank, which is the one we use upstairs in the house. When this tank is empty, it is fed from the yard tank. So, I decided to make a connection between the yard tank pipe and the pipe that fills the new tank.

Al quedar vacío y con el inclemente sol que hace todos los días acá en margarita el tanque se va tostando y con el tiempo se va agrietando hasta llegar al punto de reventarse. Para evitar ésto, que se quede vacío, decidí hacer una conexión que se pueda llenar el tanque nuevamente tomando agua del tanque de 14.000 litros que está en el fondo del patio.
Al lado de la tubería que viene de la calle y llena este tanque, se encuentra la otra tubería que viene del tanque del patio y llena el tanque del segundo nivel, que es la que usamos en la parte de arriba de la casa, y este cuando se vacía se alimenta del tanque del patio. Así que resolví hacer una conexión entre la tubería del tanque del patio con la tubería que llena el tanque nuevo.
To do this, I only had to buy two half-inch PVC T-connectors, since there was still some glue and pipe left in the house. With a hacksaw, I cut a small piece of pipe to size, then I took some sandpaper and rubbed it on the ends of the pipes and inside the three ends of the T-joint to create a rough surface and improve the adhesion of the glue between the pipe and the connections. Then I put some glue on the ends of the pipe I cut and also on the inlet of the two T-joints to make the connections.

Para hacer esto sólo se compró dos conexiones tipo T de PVC de media pulgada, ya que en la casa aún quedaba un poco de pega y tubería, con un segueta corte un pedacito de tubo a la medida, luego tomé una lija y la frote por las puntas de los tubos y por dentro de las tres puntas de la T, para formar una superficie rugosa y mejorar la adherencia de la pega entre el tubo y las conexiones, luego coloqué algo de pega en las puntas del tubo que corté y también en la entrada de las dos T para hacer las conexiones.
Once I had the connections glued, I went to the two pipes that feed water to the two tanks and cut them with the hacksaw so I could install the T-joints on these pipes. As in the previous step, I sanded the ends of the pipes, then put glue on the ends of the pipes and the T-joints and proceeded to join them.
Now the tank can be filled and the problem of it running empty is solved. All that remains is to wait three weeks to refill the tank, connect the pump to the tank in the yard, and close the valve on the pipe coming from the street to prevent the water being pumped into the tank from being lost through this pipe.

Luego que ya tenía las conexiones pegadas, me voy a las dos tuberías que alimentan con agua a los dos tanques y las corto con la segueta para poder instalar las T a estos tubos, al igual que el paso anterior, lijé las puntas de los tubos, luego le coloqué la pega en las puntas de los tubos y de las T y procedí a unir.
Ya con esto se puede llenar el tanque y resolver el problema de evitar que se quede vacío, ya sólo quedaría esperar las 3 semanas para volver a llenar el tanque, y se tendría que conectar la bomba en el tanque del patio y cerrar la llave de la tubería que viene de la calle para evitar que el agua que se está bombeando al tanque se pierda por esta tubería.
