Tonight was a quick mission out in to the Lincolnshire Wolds, a darker sky region, especially darker than where I live. The red lights are located on this 200 metre high antenna and it's been a minor bucket list shot to shoot this against a star trailed sky:
To make this kind of shot, first I composed the frame with the top of the antenna tower on the top right hand third:
Once happy with the test shot for exposure and composition, I programmed in the settings on the camera to take, in this case 120 shots of 30 seconds exposure with a 1 second gap in between each exposure. The only risk we ran tonight was the mist in the sky rolling in meaning I had to discard approx. 20 shots to make a decent enough trail.
In Photoshop, I open all the images as a stack and select all of the shots and click lighten blend mode. It's also possible to make this sort of shot using StarStax but I've always preferred Photoshop so I can clone out unwanted plane trails etc.

Excellent shot mate, I'm sure I passed this on my left (a few miles from the main road) on my way home from Skegness the other day. Sadly, we are now in tier 3 lockdown, so can't leave the area.
