HALfunction - Qurator's Photo Quest | Bokeh

in Lightpainters United4 years ago (edited)

This is my entry in to @qurator's Photo Quest for Bokeh:

This image was made in one photographic exposure using the excellent https://www.lightpaintingbrushes.com fibre optic brush.

First I shot the bokeh using a modified Russian Helios 44 lens and replaced the lens cap without ending the exposure. I then changed the colour gel on the fibre optic brush to red. As I removed the lens cap with the camera still exposing, I carefully rotated the camera on it's lens axis with the fibre optics leaving a smooth trail. The unusual shaped bokeh is the result of the extreme lens distortion caused by flipping the 2nd element at the front of the Helios backwards and is famous amongst some of my lightpainting compatriots.

About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
