Industrial strength OCD camera rotation

in Lightpainters United4 years ago

Not so fresh from a week of being a wage slave once again, Friday night was time to get out in the dark and shoot something before I go stir crazy! Tonight we visited a newly discovered abandoned factory near to where I live for a spot of lightpainting. This time I took my camera rotation tool and for once I appear to have got the alignment spot on!

This was the best of the bunch using a Godox AD200 with my "quadrablaster" gadget, a device which splits the light from the flash in to four different colours. I still haven't quite worked out why the blue isn't more intense than I would like:

This was another version using two colours, both from old fabric softener bottles. The blue one I spotted in the supermarket and when I got home I immediately decanted the bottle's contents and cut it up to make a gel over the flashgun:

And finally this was made with just the supermarket fabric softener blue by itself:

All of the above images were shot in one photographic exposure and are not Photoshop creations.

About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.

Thanks mate, probably one of those shots people wouldn’t believe was done in camera lol. I’m finding smaller, lighter lenses easier to align too ..

Indeed. I used to use the Samyang 14mm which is way too heavy but now I use the much lighter Canon 28mm for more center point precision.
