Tonight I wanted to experiment with a few ideas I had built up over the last few days. Some seem to have potential with a little more honing, others I don't think I'll try again. I did zip tie one of those <10$ strips of LEDs you can get at department stores to a pole and plugged it into a small USB battery. Seems to have some promise. As always, constructive criticism is welcome.

Enjoy your new LED strip! I like where you were going with #5. One thing you could try is shining that laser from the middle. That way you are going to get the brightest in the middle instead of on foreground. It may be that then the laser source becomes visible but if that really annoys you can add a black matt tube (paper will do) to cover the tip allowing beam to pass but in a way that's not visible to the camera.
