Thos old rallies must have been a real adventure. I wonder if it was considered a lot cheaper back then to enter for independent solo guys who just wanted to race or if they still needed huge financial backing and a massive team like nowadays for the big races

i saw last year's offer for Safari (which was cancelled 'cos of Covid-19) from Italian team: rent of Subaru Impreza was 45k€ and Ford Fiesta R5 was 55k€. very expensive these days.
