"You reap what you sow". This adage has stuck with me over the years.

There's an old widow in my community who was abandoned by her children and is currently battling with health challenges. When our community leaders showed interest in her situation, many hidden truths were uncovered.
She never prirotized her children when she was younger, abandoning them to their dad while she worked to make ends meet. Her husband took the kids to their grandparents, so he too could work.
These kids grew up knowing only their grandparents and dad who regularly visited them.
She worked in a government office for twenty-four years before being retrenched. The company she worked later offered free healthcare to those who were fifty years old at retrenchment.
The old widow who was fifty-two at retrenchment wasn't eligible for the offer. "Why?" Here's the twist.
She lied about her age and didn't even mention her kids while she was at work. At that time, she wanted to enjoyed all the perks that came with work. Promotions and transfers, which prompted her choices. Today, it boomeranged.
The community leader who wanted to help was disappointed by her past actions.
When we all heard her story, many just gossiped and left but I saw beyond the story. I saw the lessons which was why I shared this.
Don't sacrifice your future for temporary gains. Every action has consequences. Before you make that decision, think deeply how it will affect your tomorrow.
Always remember that, honesty is the best way of living and our actions today can make or mare our future.
Shortcuts might look like the easiest route, but it's the longest eventually. We start all over when it goes South.
Work is important. However, family should be more important. We might grow old, get sick, resign or retire but, family sticks with us till the end. Let's make time for the more important things and find balance.
I pray her children will eventually forgive her and care for her before she dies. Obviously, she regretted her actions, but sometimes it too late to fix it.

May we all learn from this old widow's story, to sow seeds of good deeds, kindness, empathy and integrity. These seeds stand the test of time, and does not wither even in stormy times.

The widow's story is quite pitiful but time lost can't be regained. She can still make amends and build a relationship with her children.
Yes, time lost can never be regaii. I hope she finds peacee.
