This reminds me so much of the old problem when people do things ad nauseum because they have always been done... but it takes time, causes issues etc... and everyone tries to figure out how to do it better, quicker, more efficiently... until one person goes back to the very beginning and looks at the rationale for doing the task in the first place...and realises that the underlying rationale no longer exists so the whole task can actually be scrapped instead !LOLZ
Oh, that is an aspect I had not considered before.
