Well, I've often heard it, and seen it (because working on it sometimes), but most of the technology we see and use today, is already 2-5-even 10yrs old. Meaning, the newest tech is currently being prepared to industrialize/commercialise...

And that's only the tech that is allowed to filter down. The tech that is available is in a whole different playing field, being centuries or millenia ahead, and makes pretty much any conventional tech, even most military and aero-space tech, seem quite quaint by comparison.
