How my friend and I ran into each other.
It was September 2020, as a fresher in uni, you know that feelings that you'll just be roaming around with no idea if you're on the right direction or not just in search of people who are offering your same course.
From day one, it feels it will be difficult to meet any of your course mate. All you do is ask questions, ask for directions and then try to associate with new people.
But mine was nothing different than this. It was even more complicated self because settling in a new town, you're still trying to find your way around and then,.. boomed! the school too, with the population.
Not like it's a secondary school that you get to stand in devotion ground at least it easier. But this one, you have to find your way yourself as you get to meet new faces everyday.
So after I struggle to find my way to school and to my screening venue, I was able to meet my course mate.And we began to converse, exchange contacts, you know fresher's thing Na..
The first set of friends I met were favour, Dara and mmekom. But i was close to favour than others, since we were almost living in the same route.
But then will I say they were not the right friends for me, because this set will make me miss lectures because I excorted to see a friend,and we'll end up staying there for hours.
I never liked it, because it didn't suit the plans I had for uni life.
As times goes on, I decided to withdraw from them bit by bit and I was now walking alone.
So one day after lecture, Edima , my fellow colleague walked up to me, to be my friend, I never liked it at first because it felt she was too clingy.
But despite my attitudes, Edima still pushed closer. I began to liked her and we became close friends and finally she became a part of me.
We've both supported each other in our academic journey, I'll say Edima made school life easy for me.
I stay off campus while she stays in campus. She literally fills every gap for me when I'm not around.
I remember back then when I traveled back to my base to meet my parents, and an emergency message dropped that we have to fill our log book and submit. There was no way I was going to meet up, and that would have made me to carry over a 6 credit hour course. But she took it upon herself to fill the log book and submit in my absence.
Edima's friendship actually made me have rest, meaning I can stay without checking class group chat and everything will still be smooth.
I actually introduced Edima to my family and she did same to me.
Today, both families have connected with each other because of our friendship.
We still bond till today.
Sometimes I sit down and imagine how my life in uni would have been without Edima.
She's not only my friend she's part of me
Infact she's knows somethings about me that my biology siblings don't know.
I still remember how we'll encourage each other to read. How, we will always assist each other during exams and test.
I'm glad that four years in uni gave me Edima with good heart.
