Exploring the Future or Going Back to the Past?

The idea of time-travelling has been a kind of curious subject for me. Especially after watching Sci-fi fiction movies while younger. Science and technology were depicted with little or no impossibility, so it wasn't out of place for my imagination to race down that path. The idea or thought of being able to visit my past; my old and my future; my future self, looked like a captivating thing to explore.

The past has a stash of deeds done, and treading that part could be to undo a deed or do an undone deed. Hope you got that? It could be about making amends, fixing a mistake, making right a wrong or connecting with someone in the past who's not alive anymore. Going back to the past sure has its many reasons in the hearts of many.

The same goes for trying to explore the future. With the future, it's about peeking into it and knowing what you wish to know out of curiosity. It's about knowing an unknown, especially about how a person's life will turn out. Say financially, materially, relationship-wise wise and other curious reasons. This is a desire many would like to explore.

Now, what would I choose should I have the chance to go back in the past or explore the future? I might sit on the fence on this or take no route at all. Maybe I'll just prefer to live in the present and let the past be past and the future be the future. But where a choice would have to be made, I'll say going to the past could be the route.

So, this is what I think and my choice of that route of going back in the past. We've obviously made mistakes and misused opportunities and privileges while younger. Today, we sometimes renew the regrets of the past in our hearts and minds, and it feels as if we could just get one more chance, we'll do it right.

Yes, one more chance, one more opportunity to correct the wrong, to do the undone, to undo the done, to say that last goodbye, to go to that place, to make that right decision, to build something for the future and all of that. These are usually the reasons for many. And somehow, I find some of these reasons relating to me too.

Going back in the past would mean making and getting some things right. Some life decisions I made or failed to make by reason of ignorance or nonchalance would surely be corrected. Like getting some skills early, preparing and building myself towards the future and purpose, establishing quality relationships early and my financial life. Yes, I would surely invest money I had early in university in things like crypto, agriculture.

However, will my fixing those things in the past affect the present? Will peeking into the future be really appealing or guarantee success? I think life is about living the present with the future in mind as motivation and the past behind as lessons. So, yes, I might just sit on the fence on this, and let that fence be the present. As the quote from Master Oogway in Kung Fu Panda says; "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present."

Beautiful piece 😍.

Time travel does sounds cool, but then that's just on the surface. But like you said, the future is a mystery, so it's best to use our today to shape a better tomorrow for ourselves.

Thanks for sharing.
❤️💯❤️

Yes, let's use the present to make a better future using the past as lessons.

Thank you for stopping by.

Very much welcome 🤗

This was my initial thought when I first read this week's prompt. Because really, why go through all the hassle of going to fix things in the past when you do not know how it would affect your present and future? Why go to the future, what if you meet something you weren't expecting and, then you come back to the present and just want to end it all, because you think there's no need anymore?

Like you said, let the future be the future and the past be the past. Let's just try to use our present to shape how we want our future to be

I'm glad you see it that way too. If it can't affect our present or will affect it negatively why go through that stress? We have the present to still do the needful.

That's it. Thank you for stopping by.
