Money is undoubtedly one of the most needed and sought out things in our world. We can't refute that. Almost every endeavour of ours is towards some monetary gain. Especially in our present world that everything seems to scream money. Even a child today knows the need for money. Considering all of this, it's important to see how this plays an impact on students.
No two ways about it. A student needs money as much as he or she needs success in their academics. In this part of the world especially, they need it very much. We have practicals and presentations constantly flying around. What that suggests is that money is needed. Talk of handouts or books to buy, dues to pay, transportation fare, and then feeding. To name just these.
As one who has gone through the system, I understand better. What can help a student out is how they manage their finance, especially when you know you have a limited amount of money that you receive. This is one of those reasons you see students in school engaging in some other financial gain services in order to earn some more or just what could help them provide their needs.
It's not easy actually. But what could the student do? However, we can seem to be reckless or careless about our spending too as students, particularly when you have a limited amount to go by. I had to realise the need to be frugal when it comes to my finances in school, after I was so “generous” in my early days with spending.
Savings wasn't really part of the equation while in school. Safe to say, I was the one being saved by the money that came my way. Haha. I remember one time I ran out of money, just with what could be my “last card.” Somehow, some money came in and the moment I arrived my school area I was informed of a contribution we were making for a project. I had to give out about half of that money. It hit me hard that day.
I knew we were doing a lot of spendings in my department so I had to take up doing some academic work for my fellow students, which was helpful especially in my final year and the project involved. The funds from some of these helped me meet some needs though I give big kudos to my people for doing well to provide. School was just collecting all the money, regardless.
About cooking, I cooked oo. Yes. Helpfully, I stayed with roommates who cooked well. We bought our foodstuffs from home and cooked our food. As much as we would love to ease the stress and eat outside, we knew the expenses involved. It was part of managing our finances that necessitated the decision. Although, I did eat a few times outside. Especially times foodstuffs were finished and to eat out seemed cheaper than gathering everything to cook.
Several lessons I did learn. Those moments of managing my finances, sometimes for transportation, for projects, assignments, presentations, for ingredients, refilling of gas cylinder, or one thing or the other taught me necessary lessons about life. I learnt to be frugal, to have a scale of preference and not to allow others spendings influence mine, rather my budget and need should.

Thank you!
Studemts from humble homes are the ones that struggle a lot with managing finances.
But there's a plus side to this because it helps us develop tenacity and be able to endure when things are unfavourable, in the real world after school
It truly helps to develop that tenacity. And a lot will say thank you to it for the experience and the lesson.
Thank you.
Yes that's true
