It's another amazing week, and you know what that means - it's the 12th edition of the weekly prompt to spark your creativity and get those ideas flowing in. Hive Student Connect is a community where students on Hive share their blogs. It is a vibrant space for Hive students to engage, learn, connect, and collaborate to grow and develop.
Whether you are currently a student or have already finished school, you are welcome to share your perspective.
This is your chance to express yourself and connect with others in the community.
Each week, we bring a unique theme or idea, something that challenges your mind, invites you, and simply pushes you to have fun while playing with words.
So ready to dive in? Below is the week's prompt, along with the guidelines to follow. Please ensure you read them in order not to make any mistakes.
Don't forget to tag the post correctly and share your entries in the Discord channel and not in the comment section. - Very compulsory!
"Side hustles or part-time jobs you’ve tried—what did you learn?"
Many students find ways to make money in school. It’s their little extra income apart from the ones they collect from home (some actually provide for themselves) while studying. The main reasons are to support themselves, reduce the pressure of asking from home, and, for some, to gain experience.
This prompt invites everyone to share their story about any side hustle or part-time jobs they were involved with and why they chose to do that while studying, then tell us the lessons you have learned from any - perhaps you tried finding some jobs but didn’t find any. What did you do?
It could be anything, like selling snacks, selling sheets of paper during tests and assignments, engaging in thrift clothes on campus, organising paid tutorials for students, working in a cafe, freelancing, creating digital content, and the list goes on. For example, I was Hiving right from my second year and used that to survive and pay for many things — all thanks to the platform.
It wasn’t an easy one, but it taught me time management and discipline. So, let’s hear from you. Did you face some challenges on the way, like trying to balance your work and lectures? If you learned something valuable, too, please share and let’s learn from each other.
Don’t worry if your side hustles didn’t make millions of naira then. It is the experience and lessons that matter most. So, let the fun begin and tell us how you navigated through schools with that extra income.
Be original, post a minimum of 300 words.
