Kenneth My Guy

In response to this prompt about friendship in school, I would like to skip many of my good friends in school and talk about one, Kenneth.

My school section is the School of Engineering comprising many engineering courses, and you know, such a place is populated with more males than females, and the males have their own way of handling things. There’s a block in the school where we usually go to charge our phones, and the place is somehow restricted. The electricity connected to the building was removed by the management, but because the school was full of boys, the electricity was tapped illegally to the building just so we could charge our phones, since electricity in the lecture halls had been disconnected too.

So, every day immediately after lectures, I usually went to the block to charge my phone because I was using a phone whose battery drained badly, coupled with the fact that electricity in town was not regular. Moreover, it was very important and mandatory for one to stay on the spot to watch over their phone to avoid stories. That was where I met Kenneth, who was facing the same problem of phone battery issues. He usually went there to charge his phone and stayed there to watch over it to avoid theft.

The bond of friendship started with the mutual interest of watching over each other’s phones when one went out and also communicating about lectures since we were in the same department. The little bond grew to the stage where we would wait for each other after lectures to walk together to the building to charge our phones.

That started during our first year in school through to the second year and guess what, after we did our I.T. and returned to school for continuation, we decided to become roommates. We spent one full year together in the same house and ate from one pot. The friendship didn’t end after school, no, no, we are still very good friends till today, and anytime we are on call, the memories and talks of the old days make the call endless.

Thanks for reading.
