Greetings everyone, I'm glad to participate in this Hivestudent weekly prompt.
I was brought up in a family that was not really gallant. Sometimes, when I was going back to school, there was no money to take along. In all these situations, I lost my mother to the cold hands of death. At the burial, most of our family members promised us that they would take care of us. They even added that whenever we needed anything, we should ask them.
A few months later, I wanted to pay my school fees, and I called one of my family members to ask for help. But the reply I got from them was what led me to start a side hustle. I began looking for a job around, and my friend asked if I could do labor work, but I refused to do such a kind of job.
When I reached my hostel, I started thinking about the job. But when I heard that our school portal would soon close, I immediately called my friend back, saying that I was interested so that I could pay my bills.
At that time, lectures had not started fully, so we began going together. The reason I agreed to do the work was because it was day money, and there was no hope for me. I hustled for two months, but even with all the work I did, the money only went for feeding. So, I went out to find another job so that I could pay up all my bills.
One day, on my way back from school, I met an old man in the bus. The man asked me what work I was doing, and I replied that I was a student. He said he had seen me at a site before, and I answered yes. Then he asked why I was doing that kind of work, and I explained everything to him. He told me that he would sponsor me in my academics.
Since then, I have believed that no matter the work you do, if you don’t have a helper, it is nothing.
