It's been over four years since I graduated from the university but a lot of my pictures from that time are still well kept in my gallery because I know how much I'd feel down if I lose them, some are backed up to my email just in case I lose my phone which I hope doesn't happen. It shows how much I value the memories I made.
I've shared a lot of the pictures here on Hive, I guess I've also saved them that way too. But a picture I didn't think I'd share until today is what I'm about tell you of. There are many pictures and I was going to join others to share a picture I had with group of friends or when I was in a class or school environment but I had to change my mind.
That is because I came across this particular picture while I was scrolling down to four years ago pictures on my phone and so many memories came rushing to me, putting a big smile on my face. This picture is about 7 years old, if not more. It's a photo I took inside my room at the hostel I lived in during my university days.
The moment I saw the picture, I was reminded of my hostel room and a lot of fun moments I had in it with my fellow hostelites. I had the nickname "Mama Lodge" because my room even though was one of the smallest, was a very comfortable room for the others to spend time in. They liked coming to my room, both guys and girls for fun.
I was the jovial type and gave whatever I could give so most of them felt comfortable to meet for help whenever, knowing I won't turn them down except I really do not have what they need. In this room, when I cook, I would always consider one or two of them who might come by to stay around or gist with me till they get sleepy.

In this room, and with this particular picture, that was around my second year in school, I started making music covers on Hive. I can not forget that moment because I felt so shy and scared to face the camera, I got a lot of encouragement from my neighbours before I took the courage to take this picture and afterwards, record my video.
The video had one of the highest votes I've gotten on Hive then so it was a really big boost for me. I still remember the song I sang, the whole preparation process to make sure I looked good enough on camera and the noise from my hostel until I asked some of them to let me record quickly, though it wasn't a quick one at all.
The picture also reminded me of how good I've always looked even with the school stress but back then, I thought my looks were lacking. I was so wrong, this picture has taught me a lesson to appreciate myself anytime. I also couldn't stop smiling to how beautiful my room because I had matching curtains and bedsheets with the paint.
I stayed in this room all through the four to five years I spent in school and I couldn't have asked for a better place. There were no complains like I heard coming from other streets and hostels. It was a peaceful and very fun stay for me in the hostel, I made a lot memories that will last for a long time and this picture serves as a reminder.
Image used is mine.

Wow, you still look good in this picture. That's why people love jovial and friendly people because they know they're kind hearted and supportive. Honestly, school life is not easy.
That Mama Lodge bit got me, the smallest room turning into the chill spot for everyone is pure gold :)
As someone who keeps old pics like backups in three places, I defintely feel that urge to protect memories, and this one carries so much warmth.
Crazy how that shy first cover from your room later brought one of your biggest votes, like proof that courage compounds over time, even with hostel noise and late night gists.
You made a tiny room feel like home for many, and that generosity still shows in your voice today, it is kinda beutiful'.
Does the Mama Lodge nickname still stick?
