Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is from Hive Student Connect, which says: Side Hustlers/Extra Income. So let's dive in.
This week Hive Student Connect topic is very interesting because it talks about something we students can all relate to, having a side hustle or part-time job while studying. Being a student isn't easy at all, especially when we sometimes need money for things we need to buy in school or things that come up unexpectedly. That's why most students try to find a way to start small businesses, such as selling snacks, zobo, sweets or chewing gum, necklaces, clothes, plaiting of hair, etc., just to be able to support themselves in school and reduce the pressure of always asking from home. This is especially true for those who come from average families where things are not that soft but a bit hard.
For me, my side hustle is writing on Hive. I'm still a student, but I use the Hive platform to support myself financially while balancing my school life with it. Writing posts on Hive has really helped me a lot. I was introduced to the Hive platform by my sister @princessbusayo, who encouraged me to start writing on Hive platform. She told me that since I wasn’t a small girl anymore, I should start doing something meaningful that could help me become more responsible and independent.
At first, I didn’t really know much about writing on Hive, but as time went on, and I watched my sister write, I gradually learned. With time, I started enjoying writing posts and sharing my thoughts. Through Hive, I began earning money, which became a great help and relief for me as a student. I no longer depend on my sisters like before. Whenever we are told to buy something in school, instead of asking my sisters-though I still do sometimes, but not as much as before, I just ask my sister to help me sell a small amount of my HBD so that I can buy what I need.
To be honest, Hive has made me more confident and independent. Before, I wasn’t confident in myself, but now I am, thanks to Hive. I’m happy to know that I can handle some of my responsibilities on my own without anybody’s help. It also taught me something very valuable, which is time management. Balancing my studies in school and writing posts on Hive isn’t easy, but I still try my best to write and post. Through that, I’ve learned how to plan my day, balance my activities, and still get some good rest.

Another thing Hive has taught me is self-expression. Before, I wasn’t good at expressing myself either in thoughts or feelings, but now, through Hive and by writing, I’ve learned to express myself better and improve my communication skill, something I wasn’t good at before.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for Hive, I wouldn’t have had any side hustle at all. I would still be depending fully on my sisters for every little thing. But now, I’m proud of myself for being able to do things on my own. To me, I know that this experience is preparing me for the future. In case when I’m alone without anyone by my side, I’ll be able to take responsibility for myself.
In conclusion, Hive has been more than just a side hustle for me as a student. It’s been a platform for growth, learning, and making friends. Even though I’m still a student, I’m happy that I already have something meaningful that supports me financially. I’ll forever be grateful to God and to Hive for this wonderful and amazing opportunity.

This is beautiful. This is something Hive can do for someone who is committed to getting better. Hive helps you organize your thoughts, make you not depend on anyone for everything but with the little you earn, you are able to stand for yourself - that’s self expression in a confident way.
