What a friend like Bernard!

Greetings!

Everything about life is all about building a strong and lasting relationship as no man can live as an island which means, we all needs ourselves in one way or the other to survive no matter where we find ourselves.

No matter where we find ourselves being it in the church, neighborhood and most importantly in the school settings, we must make sure we build a long and lasting relationship which would help us to survive in that community where competition and struggles is the other of the day.

Having said this, I would like to respond to the topic of the prompt in the @Hive students connect.

Over the years, I can boldly say that I have built so many relationships, but the one with Bernard is quite different from all those I have built in the past.

As a new student in my first year on campus, I was always found lonely without moving or clicking with anyone and this was as a result of the warnings I had received from home to avoid or better still study with whom I would make friends.

So, because of this, I found it difficult to associate myself with people, but I can tell you for sure that it wasn't easy as life was boring to me back then.

However, during this my lonely time without having friends or anyone with me, there's this guy who would always trouble my loneliness and his name is Bernard. When others are avoiding me, Bernard would always disturb me and even make me laugh whenever I felt like not laughing.

Less I forget, Bernard was my roommate back then and would always make our room of four students lively. But out of the other three, it's only Bernard that would relate with me, others would not as they saw me as an introvert.

So, after our first year in school, we all were separated and allotted other hostel rooms and unfortunately, I got separated from the only person who used to make me feel included. Although he's troublesome, I love his style.

I felt his absence when we got separated, but guess what, Bernard would not separate himself from me as he used to spend most of his days in my new room just because of me and it's from there that we became 5 and 6.

Anywhere you see Bernard you see me, whatever I eat he eats, whatever I put on, he put on. At times, whenever we are on holiday, we visit ourselves and even spend one holiday with his family and another with mine. Although we used to have our differences, we at most understand each other and respect our boundaries.

Furthermore, through our friendship, our both families got united and they too visit and call each other at will. My parents love him and his family members would not even joke with me as we have become family friends, we are even more than family friends but a family.

In addition, after we have both graduated from the university, we were posted to different states for our one year NYSC, but it didn't really affect us and we still reached out to each on a daily basis.

So, after the one year service to our nation, we came back home and Bernard's father helped him secure a job in one of the foremost companies in the country, but Bernard would not do this job without his parents helping to secure one too and that's how his parents also helped me to secure a job in the same company with him which marked the continuation of our relationship.

Till today, Bernard and I are still together and also doing things together. Though we are married, our marriages would not separate but glue us together the more.
