Hello everyone, welcome to my blog,
So when I think back to the times during my school days, I do honestly wonder how I even managed to pull through it sometimes, It was not easy, but somehow I always found a way to make things work out , the only thing I know I really did for money while I was in school was to write and engage here on Hive, Yeah, that was basically my side hustle, like putting words together and sharing them on the Blockchain, so yes , It became something I really enjoyed doing, even though at first I didn’t see it as a source of income.
And the funny thing is that, I actually know how to bake snacks, small chops, cakes , all those nice things, but doing that while being a part-time student just didn’t make sense for me for one, it was not going to be convenient to carry snacks around to class, then again, we already had about three people in my class who were into that business like they brought it to class everytime, and I just felt like adding myself to that list would be like unnecessary competition, and besides, I did not even have the time.
Sometimes I used to think, maybe if I just bake once in a while and sell to people I know… but omo.... when I thought about the stress, I would just drop the idea, the cost of things in the market wasn’t helping either, Flour, sugar, butter ,everything was just going up, and even if I managed to get the ingredients, the thought of carrying snacks from my house to school every day, especially with the distance, just made me tired before I even started sef.
So, writing became my comfort zone, It was something I could do from home, in my space, without worrying about transportation or materials, I could just sit with my phone, type, and express myself, And it wasn’t just about the money, it was also about the peace that came with it in a way, I could share my thoughts, tell my stories, and at the same time earn from it , it was just like hitting two birds with one stone.
There were days when I wished I had another means to make more money, but somehow Hive kept me going, even if I was not earning much, it still gave me that small relief that I was not doing nothing, It kept me focused and creative, and see honestly, it helped me survive some tough days too.
Now when I look back, I am just grateful that I had that, because if not for Hive, I don’t even know what I would have done, It may not have been a business like baking or selling snacks, but it gave me what I needed , a way to keep pushing forward.
I am inviting @suqueen @cohlson @justfavour to share their entry for this prompt.
