Surviving The Unthinkable...

Good Morning Dearest Readers...

First of, Ah! It would honestly be a full blown disaster to live without electricity, water, and gas for a whole month, not for one day o, not one week, but for one full month? God abeg..... The moment I wake up and realize that there is no light, no water, and no gas, my first reaction would be confusion first, then panic, I will probably think it is just one of those our usual Nigerian problems that will be fixed in a few hours, But once hours turn to days, then Omo ... reality will hit me hard.

The hardest thing to lose first for me would definitely be water, Light is important, yes, but water is life, like how do you bath? Cook? Wash plates? Wash clothes? Even flushing toilet becomes a big problem, and that one I hate it when toilet is messy, see without water, everything will just scatters, I feel like after water, the next painful thing is electricity because almost everything now depends on it, Phone, work, communication, even peace of mind sef, then Gas? That one will still hurt, but somehow we Nigerians always find a way around cooking.

Cooking would become very stressful, that's for sure I would probably have to depend on charcoal or firewood, like old times, that means cooking outside, inhaling smoke, and spending extra time just to prepare simple meals, Bathing would mean fetching water from a well, borehole, or begging neighbors, and trust me, after a few days, pride will drop because survival comes first.

Work wise, it would really affect me, Almost everything now is online, Phones, internet, gadgets, charging phone would become a daily struggle, I would probably have to pay to charge at charging points or use power banks until they finish, Side gigs online? most of them would pause, Studying or writing would reduce drastically because once your phone battery is low, you start rationing usage like fuel.

Sleep would even change, without light or fan, nights would be hot and uncomfortable, I might struggle at first and even fall sick from stress, heat, or poor hygiene, but humans are funny, we find ways adapt, after some days, I will then adjust my routine, Sleep earlier, wake up earlier, fetch water early, cook in bulk, reduce phone usage.

Support wise, I know family and neighbors would play a role, In situations like this, community matters, sharing water, charging phones together, cooking together, that is when you will know who really has your back.

The thing I would miss the most is water, honestly, because without it, everything becomes ten times harder, this experience would teach me gratitude, see we tend complain a lot, but we don’t realize how privileged we are to even have these basic things, even if they are not always constant.

One month without electricity, water, and gas would humble anyone, It would teach patience, resilience, and also appreciation for small comforts we take for granted every single day.

That is why well water is critical for people to have. But too often people become dependent on their cities or wherever they get their water from.

But it's not everyone that has well , you know?

That is why churches try to dig wells.

It's really the unthinkable and the worst nightmare I will ever have, hmmm picking water is a good choice, nice write-up
