¡Hola, amigos de Hive! Ayer 7 de noviembre llegué a la edad de treinta y tres, o como dicen ahora, nivel treinta y tres desbloqueado. Acá en Cuba ese número es bien conocido en el argor popular, pues en la charada corresponde a la tiñosa, algunos lo reconocen como la edad en que Cristo comenzó a predicar, pero para mí, es el primer año que cumplo junto a mi hijo, y parte del inicio de una nueva desafiante etapa. Normalmente en mi casa acostumbramos a hacer fiestas para celebrar los cumpleaños de la familia, los días de las madres, los días de los padres, San Valentín... Este año, a diferencia de otros, nos quedamos en casa y decidimos hacer una cena familiar.
Desde el día antes comenzamos con los preparativos, porque sabíamos que iban a venir a visitarnos varias personas, y ahora con el bebé pasar tiempo en la cocina resulta un poco difícil. Salí desde temprano y compré un poco de coco y ya tenía las papayas vedes para hacer un dulce en almíbar. Llegué a la casa y creyéndome una súper chef, saqué a todo el mundo de la cocina, me puse el delantal y comencé a hacer el dulce, ablandé los frijoles para el arroz, hice unas croquetas, y adobé la carne de cerdo.

From the day before we started with the preparations, because we knew that several people were coming to visit us, and now with the baby spending time in the kitchen is a bit difficult. I went out early and bought some coconut and already had the papayas ready to make a sweet in syrup. I got home and thinking I was a super chef, I got everyone out of the kitchen, put on my apron and started making the candy, softened the beans for the rice, made some croquettes, and marinated the pork.
Mi papá desde hace un tiempo ha tomado muy en serio la repostería. Llevaba varios días mirando recetas en internet porque quería hacer un cake para mi cumpleaños. Finalmente se decidió por hacer un cake de vainilla, relleno con dulce de papaya y coco y cubierto de una crema de chocolate y maní. Todo esto ocurrió el lunes, en espera de mi cumpleaños.
Inició el día 7 con mi mamá y mi esposo cantándome la canción de felicidades, lo cual fue toda una fiesta para mi pequeño. Desde bien temprano fueron muchísimas las llamadas y mensajes de felicitación de familiares y amigos.
My dad has been serious about baking for a while now. He had been looking at recipes on the internet for several days because he wanted to make a cake for my birthday. He finally decided to make a vanilla cake, filled with papaya and coconut candy and covered with a chocolate and peanut buttercream. This all happened on Monday, in anticipation of my birthday.
It started on the 7th with my mom and my husband singing me the congratulations song, which was quite a party for my little one. Since early in the morning, there were so many calls and congratulatory messages from family and friends.
Como sabíamos que íbamos a tener visitas, encendimos de nuevo el fogón y nos pusimos manos a la obra. Terminé haciendo mi famosa receta de pan de plátanos para ofrecerle a quienes llegaran a la casa y las demás preparaciones que habían quedado pendientes del día anterior.
Since we knew we were going to have visitors, we lit the stove again and got down to work. I ended up making my famous banana bread recipe to offer to those who came to the house and the other preparations that had been left over from the previous day.
El primero en llegar a casa fue el hijo de una amiga de mi mamá que pasó buena parte de la mañana con nosotros. Más tarde llegó mi primo con la esposa y su niño de cinco años. A todos les encantó el pan de plátanos y el dulce, así que la chef homenajeada se sintió muy complacida. El niño de mi primo estuvo jugando durante un buen rato con Gael, lo cual le encantó a mi hijo. Era la primera vez que jugaba con otro niño. Para él fue muy divertido y yo lo disfruté al máximo.
The first to arrive home was the son of one of my mother's friends who spent a good part of the morning with us. Later my cousin arrived with his wife and five year old son. Everyone loved the banana bread and candy, so the honored chef was very pleased. My cousin's little boy played for quite a while with Gael, which my son loved. It was his first time playing with another child. It was a lot of fun for him and I enjoyed it to the fullest.
Finalmente, nos sentamos a la mesa a cenar. Todos los miembros de la familia disfrutaron enormemente de la comida que preparamos para celebrar la ocasión. Yo, más feliz imposible, de poder estar con mi hijo, mi esposo y mis padres en este día, y hasta una amiga se coló por video llamada en la cena.
Finally, we sat down at the table for dinner. Everyone in the family thoroughly enjoyed the meal we prepared to celebrate the occasion. I was even happier to be with my son, my husband and my parents on this day, and a friend even snuck in via video call for dinner.
Terminé el día exhausta, pero con la satisfacción de haber pasado un día fenomenal, en casa, rodeada por mis seres queridos. Espero que este ciclo que comienza me traiga tantas satisfacciones como el que acabo de cerrar. Estoy lista para los nuevos retos: nivel treinta y tres desbloqueado.
I ended the day exhausted, but with the satisfaction of having spent a phenomenal day, at home, surrounded by my loved ones. I hope that this new cycle will bring me as much satisfaction as the one I just closed. I am ready for new challenges: level thirty-three unlocked.
