Hello Hive!: My introduction
¡Hola a todos! Como lo prometí la última vez, aquí está mi presentación oficial de Hive para que puedan conocerme mejor y podamos disfrutar todos de mi participación en esta comunidad con confianza.
Hello everyone! As promised last time here is my official introduction to Hive, so you can get to know me better and we all can enjoy my participation in this community with trust.
Pues mi nombre es Ray, soy de Barquisimeto, Venezuela y tengo 21 años. Como se habrán podido dar cuenta estudio Ingeniería Informática, he estado en este viaje que tenía 13 años, cuando jugaba Minetest, donde a menudo se solía hablar de programación, así que comencé a interesarme en este mundo, primero haciendo hola mundos en varios lenguajes, pero tomé un cariño especial con HTML; luego en el liceo comencé a estudiar programación formalmente, ya que estaba en una escuela técnica; allí comencé con Pascal, luego un poco más de HTML y CSS tanto en el colegio como en la casa, y cuando decidí seguir estudiando allí en 4° año fui entrando en profundidad con la programación: Fundamentos de la programación con C++, bases de datos con SQL, Visual Basic para las interfaces gráficas, y algunas nociones de desarrollo de sistema; gracias a esa decisión ahora soy técnico medio en informática y tuve buenas bases para seguir estudiando en la universidad. Aunque nunca me atreví a hacer un proyecto significativo, algo que quiero cambiar en un futuro no muy lejano...
So my name is Ray, I am from Barquisimeto, Venezuela and I am 21 years old. As you might have noticed I study Software Engineering, I have been going on this journey since I was 13, when I played Minetest, where programming was an usual topic among players, so I started to get interested on this world, first trying to make hello worlds in many languages, but being especially fond of HTML; then in middle school I formally started studying programming, since I was a in technical school; there I started with Pascal, then a little more of HTML and CSS both at school and home, and when I chose to keep studying there for high school I got more deep on it: C++ for the fundamentals, SQL for databases, Visual Basic for UI, and a couple of notions on systems development; thanks to that decision now I am an Informatics Middle Technician, and I had strong bases to start my studies at university. Even though I never dared to make a meaningful project out of it, and that is something I would like to change in the short run...
También he tenido interés en la música desde pequeño, incluso diría que la música es parte de mi vida desde que tengo memoria. Comencé estudiando música cuando tenía seis, en un núcleo de El Sistema en el Estado Miranda, luego cuando me mudé aquí a Barquisimeto me inscribí en el Conservatorio Vicente Emilio Sojo, donde espero graduarme como violinista y participo en un coro Juvenil. También toco un poco de guitarra, cuatro, piano y a veces algo de harmónica.
I also have been into music since very little, I would dare to say that music is part of my life as long as I can remember. I started studying music since I was six, at a branch from El Sistema in the Miranda State, then when moved here in Barquisimeto I enrolled in the Conservatory Vicente Emilio Sojo, where I expect to graduate as a violinist and also take part in a youth choir. I also play a little guitar, cuatro, piano and a little harmonica sometimes.
Al principio quería aprender piano, pero como no había ningún profesor de piano en el pueblo en el que vivía en Miranda tuve que escoger otro instrumento, que me gustara, así que escogí el violín, y ahora llevo 12 años aprendiendo a tocar y amar el violín, una relación que ha tenido sus altos y sus bajos, pero que se una experiencia muy enriquecedora; los mejores momentosde mi vida fueron con tros músicos haciendo parte de esta unión mágica que llamamos orquesta, participar en algo tan sublime como una sinfonía es un sentimiento único.
At first I wanted to learn piano, but since there was not any piano teacher in the town I lived in Miranda I had to choose another instrument that I liked, so I took violin and now it has being 12 years learning to play and love the violin, a relationship that has had its highs and lows, but it is definitively a very enriching experience; the best moments of my life were among many other musicians taking part of this magic assembly that we call orchestra, taking part of something so supernal as a symphony is a unique feeling.
Mientras no estoy estudiando para la universidad o el conservatorio, me gusta conversar y reunirme con mis amigos, jugar videojuegos (aunque no mucho últimamente), leer libros (acabo de terminar El hombre en busca de sentido, todavía estoy digiriéndolo), aprender algo de historia o solo navegar por internet, así como también salir a hacer ejercicio de vez en cuando. Pero lo que más me gusta es aprender otras lenguas: Comencé con el inglés en el liceo, luego casi paralelamente con el alemán porque conseguí un pequeño curso en la biblioteca familiar, luego aprendí algo de portugués con Duolingo, después italiano porque mi liceo tenía mala suerte consiguiendo profesores de inglés y luego casi paralelamente el francés con una enciclopedia autodidacta.
While I am not studying for the university or the conservatory I enjoy talking and hanging out with my friends, playing video-games (although not very much lately), reading books (just finished Man's Search for Meaning, still digesting it), learning some history or just surfing on the internet, as well as going out to do some sport from time to time. But what I enjoy the most is to learn other languages: I started English in middle-school, then almost simultaneously I started German because I found a course in my family library, then I learned a little Portuguese with Duolingo, then Italian due to my school's bad luck finding English teachers, and almost simultaneously French too with an autodidact encyclopedia.
En este momento estoy tratando de mejorar mi alemán, porque nunca lo internalicé bien, no es un idioma precisamente sencillo, pero espero alcanzar dominarlo lo suficiente como para mantener una conversación normal y entender completamente contenido en alemán. Mis siguientes objetivos son el ruso, el mandarín (lo básico, no estoy tan interesado en el chino, ¡peor quién sabe!, al principio no quería aprender italiano y después de un par de canciones me enamoré del idioma) y el turco.
Right now I am trying to improve my German because I never internalized it very well, is not an especially easy language, but I hope I can achieve enough mastery to hold regular conversations and fully understand German content. My next language goals are Russian, Mandarin (the very basics, I am not that interested in Chinese, but who knows! I did not want to learn Italian at first and after a couple of songs I got in love with the language) and Turkish.
Tal vez ya no exista Radio Moscú, pero algo de provecho le tengo que sacar! | Perhaps Radio Moscow does not longer exists, but I gotta get something out of it!
Llegué a Hive gracias a mi gran amigo @jkalthor, quien me ha invitado a algunas conferencias de @hivetalkproject; al principio no entendía bien de que se trataba, especialmente porque soy un novato en lo que a blockchain respecta. No fue hasta que asistía al #buildingday que pude entender de que se trataba todo esto, o al menos básicamente; fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora y me divertí bastante. Así que gracias a esta iniciativa me uní a Hive y espero ser capaz de desarrolar aplicaciones o contratos inteligetes para Hive.
I came to Hive thanks to my good friend @jkalthor, who has invited me to a couple of conferences of @hivetalkproject; at first it couldn't grasp the whole idea, especially because when it comes to blockchain, I was a complete newbie. It was not until I attended to the Building Day that I could understand what this is all about, at least at a basic level; it was a very enlightening experience and I had a lot of fun. So thanks to this initiative joined Hive and I look foward to be able to develop applications or smart contracts for Hive.

Y bueno, en caso de que se lo pregunten, ¿qué es lo que significa tu nombre de usuario? Pues a mi país le tomó una escasez de alimentos para apreciar un plato ancestral que los indígenas acostumbraban comer por generaciones, un alimento asociado a la fuerza y a la enegería, pero tabmién con la pobreza, ya que habían muchas otras opcione smás atractivas que las personas podían adquirir en los entonces infames pero hoy añorados años de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Así que mi madre me presentó en ese entonces lo que sería mi comida favorita: el fororo. Es la versión venezolana del atole, un potaje hecho de maíz tostado; simple, pero delicioso, especialmente con leche, que le aporta un valor nutricional.
So in any case you're wondering, what does your username means? Well, it took a food shortage in my country for my people to appreciate an ancestral porridge that natives used to eat for generations, a food that was associated both with strength and vitality but also with poverty, since there was many other foods more attractive that people could acquire in the then notorious but now missed years of the second half of Venezuela's 20th century. So my mother introduced to me what has become my favorite food: fororo. It is the Venezuelan version of Mexican atole, a porridge made out of toasted corn; simple, but delicious, especially with milk, which adds nutritious value.
Así que eso es todo lo que puedo contarles sobre mi por ahora, estoy emocionado por aprender más de este mundo de la Web3 y compartir conocimientos y experiencias con otros hivers.
