Soy una artista latinoamericana, me llamo Gloria Rojas venezolana y vivo frente al mar Caribe en Caracas.
Egresada de la prestigiosa Universidad Central de Venezuela, con una Licenciatura en Geografía, mis estudios de arte los comienzo en ese momento crítico donde tome la decisión de divorciarme de una vida para enrumbarla por el arte, el cual siempre desde muy pequeña quería transitar asumiéndolo con una pasión largamente contenida.
I am a Latin American artist, my name is Gloria Rojas, Venezuelan and I live in front of the Caribbean Sea in Caracas.
Graduated from the prestigious Central University of Venezuela, with a degree in Geography, I began my art studies at that critical moment where I made the decision to divorce myself from a life to lead it through art, which since I was a child I always wanted to go through assuming it with a long-contained passion.
Participo en los Talleres libres de Arte de la Escuela de Artes Visuales Cristóbal Rojas con varios artistas profesores y definiéndome como dibujante, luego me incorporo en el Centro de Enseñanza Grafica CEGRA, del Ministerio de la Cultura, donde cultive mi amor hacia el grabado. Simultáneamente empiezo a participar en Salones oficiales y Bienales Nacionales e internacionales donde obtengo reconocimientos. Viajo a Puerto Rico y estudio en la escuela se San Juan de Puerto Rico durante dos años.
I participate in the free Art Workshops of the Cristobal Rojas School of Visual Arts with several artists teachers and defining myself as a draftsman, then I join the Graphic Teaching Center CEGRA, of the Ministry of Culture, where I cultivate my love for engraving. Simultaneously I begin to participate in official Salons and National and International Biennials where I obtain recognitions. I travel to Puerto Rico and study at the school in San Juan de Puerto Rico for two years.
Regreso al país y me incorporo al trabajo e investigación del hecho creativo. Incorporándome al taller de grabado de la Universidad Nacional Experimental Simón Rodríguez UNESR, ingreso a la escuela de Artes de la UCV, en el interés de adquirir conocimientos de las Artes plásticas, teorías del arte, filosofía , estética entre otras y simultáneamente me postulo a la primera cohorte del posgrado en Artes para realizar una Maestría en Artes Plásticas en la Universidad Pedagógica Libertador UPEL, y obtengo el título de Magister en Artes Plásticas
I return to the country and I join the work and research of the creative fact. Joining the engraving workshop of the Universidad Nacional Experimental Simón Rodríguez UNESR, I enter the School of Arts of the UCV, in the interest of acquiring knowledge of the visual arts, theories of art, philosophy, aesthetics and others and simultaneously I apply to the first cohort of the postgraduate in Arts for a Masters in Visual Arts at the Universidad Pedagógica Libertador UPEL, and I get the title of Master in Visual Arts.

Concurso e ingreso a la planta de profesores ordinarios de la Universidad Simón Rodríguez, allí soy la responsable del taller de grabado, ejerzo la docencia por más de 20 años en el área del grabado en especial las técnicas de la Xilografía , Punta seca y Cartonaje .Producto de esa investigación hago en el año 2017 una muestra individual “En la Piel de la sombra “en el Museo de la Estampa y el Diseño Carlos Cruz Diez MEDI en Caracas. Al respecto Zacarías Gracia , director del MBA y Presidente del IARTES señala

En esa eterna preocupación que caracteriza al artista contemporáneo integral dirijo mi atención a la construcción de un lenguaje pictórico que de cuenta de mi desarrollo como dibujante y grabadora así como el interés por la fotografía, recurso que me permite catalogar, identidicar mi entorno inmediato, donde la cotidianidad, mi cotidianidad es fermento y objeto de investigación. Procuro desarrollar un lenguaje singular, propio producto de mi praxis, en el año 2021cristaliza mi investigación en la muestra individual “Reinvención del espacio” en los espacios de la Galería de Arte Nacional GAN curada por nuestro poeta Juan Calzadilla al respecto el poeta y artista plástico señala:”
In that eternal concern that characterizes the integral contemporary artist, I direct my attention to the construction of a pictorial language that accounts for my development as a draftsman and engraver as well as my interest in photography, a resource that allows me to catalog and identify my immediate environment, where everyday life, my everyday life is the ferment and object of research. I try to develop a singular language, my own product of my praxis, in the year 2021 my research crystallizes in the solo exhibition “Reinvention of space” in the spaces of the National Art Gallery GAN curated by our poet Juan Calzadilla in this regard the poet and artist says:”.
“Elogiamos la obra y el momento que vive esta magnífica venezolana, desde lo revelado en su práctica “En la piel de la sombra”, esas sombras que con el sol en nuestra latitud son responsables de la apariencia y cierto encanto elaborado de contrastes y encandilamiento”
“We praise the work and the moment that this magnificent Venezuelan is living, from what is revealed in her practice ‘In the skin of the shadow’, those shadows that with the sun in our latitude are responsible for the appearance and a certain elaborated charm of contrasts and dazzling”.
“Gloria dedicara gran parte de su carrera a la enseñanza del arte del grabado en sus distintas modalidades. Sus creaciones en esta disciplina, que asocio con la investigación partiendo de nuevos materiales pictóricos y del conocimiento de la nueva función que la gráfica proporciona a la fotografía, debieron influir en sus métodos de abordar la pintura con el mismo cuidado programático y respeto al material que ponía en la elaboración del grabado”.
“Gloria dedicated a large part of her career to teaching the art of engraving in its different modalities. Her creations in this discipline, which she associated with research based on new pictorial materials and the knowledge of the new function that graphics provides to photography, must have influenced her methods of approaching painting with the same programmatic care and respect for the material that she put into the elaboration of engraving”.

Son mis intereses desde que tengo uso de razón todo aquello que tiene que ver con mi entorno mas cercano, mi cotidianidad desde donde me considero un pequeño elemento que puede de alguna manera darle forma y voz a nuestras almas contemporáneas. Y es a través de la praxis del hacer diario y continuo que creo puedo encontrar el dialogo que permita darle forma a un alfabeto en constante construcción.
My interests since I can remember are everything that has to do with my closest environment, my daily life from where I consider myself a small element that can somehow give shape and voice to our contemporary souls. And it is through the praxis of daily and continuous doing that I believe I can find the dialogue that allows me to give shape to an alphabet in constant construction.
El espacio inmediato se convierte en elemento en constante dialogo y gestor de la obra, el espacio urbano toma su protagonismo.
The immediate space becomes an element in constant dialogue and manager of the work, the urban space takes center stage.
Al respecto la investigadora y curadora Ydelisa Rincon afirma:
“Gloria Rojas genera redes que se tejen sobre el plano para vincular una realidad con otra y dentro de esa retícula espacial, de ese mundo paralelo que recrea, sin identificarse plenamente, diluye su figura silueteada, proyección de su propio cuerpo, aportando con ello la impresión de ser a la vez agente y testigo dentro del plano, la sombra que transita en la obra, sus vivencias”
In this regard, researcher and curator Ydelisa Rincon states:
“Gloria Rojas generates networks that are woven on the plane to link one reality with another and within that spatial grid, of that parallel world that she recreates, without fully identifying herself, she dilutes her silhouetted figure, a projection of her own body, thus giving the impression of being both agent and witness within the plane, the shadow that moves in the work, her experiences”.
Frente a un nuevo reto como son el trabajo de las nuevas tecnologías y nuevos espacios de las plataformas, como lo es Hive, en la cual estoy incursionando por invitación del Museo de Bellas de Caracas, con lo que me siento altamente honrada y comprometida. Llevados de la mano de los amigos @moisesjohan, @mundomaure, y @danielvehe, confió en que esta vez si lo voy a lograr por la facilitación cálida y pedagógica que están realizando. Considero que es un ”mundo” maravilloso del cual no me quiero perder.
Faced with a new challenge such as the work of new technologies and new platform spaces, such as Hive, in which I am venturing at the invitation of the Museo de Bellas de Caracas, with which I feel highly honored and committed. Hand in hand with my friends @moisesjohan, @mundomaure, and @danielvehe, I am confident that this time I will succeed because of the warm and pedagogical facilitation they are doing. I think it is a wonderful “world” that I do not want to miss.
