Ya lo he dicho un par de veces por aquí, pero soy abogado y mientras estudiaba en la facultad también trabajaba en Tribunales como relator.
Mi principal trabajo era ayudar tanto al Juez como a la secretaria a relacionar los expedientes para poder dictar sentencia. Y ahí vi un montón de cantidad de cosas bizarras. Aunque nada le ganará a un caso en particular.
Era un expediente promedio, se trataba de la partición de una herencia luego de la muerte del padre de los hermanos. La demanda empezaba como la típica de ese tipo, un hermano exigiéndole a sus otros hermanos partieran la comunidad sucesoral.
Pero el plot twist llego en el momento en que empecé a leer la contestación de la demanda por parte de los otros hermanos.
Resulta que el sujeto que estaba demandando realmente no era hermano de ellos.
El padre de los demandados tenía varias fincas dentro del occidente del país y en una de ellas contrato al demandante para que sirviera como mano de obra, no obstante, tanto empleador como empleado compartían el primer apellido (uno bastante común en Latinoamérica en general). Y ante ello, la parte demandante vio una oportunidad.
Poco antes de la muerte del padre de los demandados, el demandante registro una partida de nacimiento en un registro de algún lugar del occidente del país, donde se decía que el empleador y el padre de los demandantes era su padre. Posterior a esto, el demandante saco una nueva cédula de identidad o DNI, para cambiarse los apellidos y fuera más acorde. Aunque el número de identidad que le dieron no correspondía con su edad.
Cuando estuve leyendo todo esto no pude dejar de pensar en la clase de cosas que pude hacer una persona movida por su avaricia y el deseo de dinero, a tal punto de que algunas personas pueden negar ser hijos de las personas que les dieron la vida si ven que algo les beneficia más, aun cuando eso representé también dañar a otras personas.
Como mi tribunal era un tribunal de apelaciones, estábamos conociendo solo de una incidencia, por lo que nunca supe en que termino todo ese problema, aunque pienso mucho en ese caso y es de las primeras cosas que pienso cuando me preguntan qué es lo más loco que has visto como abogado (aunque claro, en ese tiempo no era abogado).

It turns out that the guy who was suing was actually not their brother.
The father of the defendants had several farms in the western part of the country and in one of them he hired the plaintiff to serve as a laborer, however, both employer and employee shared the first surname (a common one in Latin America in general). And so, the plaintiff saw an opportunity.
Shortly before the death of the defendants' father, the plaintiff registered a birth certificate in a registry somewhere in the western part of the country, where the employer and the plaintiffs' father was said to be his father. Subsequently, the plaintiff took out a new identity card or DNI, to change his last names to be more consistent. Although the identity number he was given did not correspond to his age.
When I was reading all this I could not stop thinking about the kind of things that a person moved by greed and the desire for money could do, to the point that some people can deny being children of the people who gave them life if they see that something benefits them more, even when that also meant harming other people.
Since my court was an appellate court, we were hearing only one incidence, so I never knew where all that trouble ended up, although I think about that case a lot and it is one of the first things I think of when I am asked what is the craziest thing you have seen as a lawyer (although of course, at that time I was not a lawyer).
What a story :) Greed and stupidity. He has thought he could carry out his plan without being caught :)
Que caso más extraño de verdad! Pero eso es una realidad, existen personas que se les abren la agallas y se desconocen, para mi es parte del comportamiento de algunos humanos, pelean por herencias y se alejan de la familia por lo material, cuando lo más importante es la familia y se dan cuenta demasiado tarde. 🙂 Buena anécdota y muy reflexiva ✨
