Hola mis amigos de Hive!! Hoy quisiera contarles mi experiencia en un espacio lleno de amor y alegría, el proyecto “Con amor y esperanza para personas con Síndrome de Down. Llegué al proyecto en el año 2006 para realizar mi tesis de Maestría y quedé para siempre atada a ese espacio.
)El Proyecto “Con amor y esperanza” para personas con Síndrome de Down fue creado por el pintor- grabador Jesús Carrete, en enero del 2002. En los primeros momentos incursionaron en la monotipia y posteriormente en otras técnicas basándose en la enseñanza de diferentes técnicas de grabado como manifestación de las artes plásticas.

)Una de las problemáticas vigentes en la actualidad cuando se habla de Síndrome de Down, resulta el hecho de que en muchas ocasiones estas personas son subvaloradas a nivel social, y no existen programas o espacios que sean capaces de revertir esta situación, si se tiene en cuenta que estas personas una vez terminado el proceso de enseñanza en las escuelas especiales a las que no todos asisten, se encuentran ante la imposibilidad de continuar desarrollándose, y en la mayoría de los casos se encuentran en sus hogares en un estado de total dependencia.

Durante el desarrollo del proyecto se han desarrollado habilidades de lecto-escritura y lenguaje oral, muchos aprendieron a firmar y a escribir sus nombres a fin de autentificar sus trabajos. En el caso del lenguaje oral, es el que más se ha desarrollado a partir de las evaluaciones del taller, que se realizan al finalizar el mismo y donde cada uno debe exponer lo que hizo.

Para ellos asistir al proyecto es un día de fiesta, por lo que lo anhelan, esperan, cuentan los días de la semana, para ver cuándo les corresponde el encuentro, ya que es un día en el que ellos hacen cosas lindas, donde se les deja hablar, opinar, donde salen a la calle, se expresan, escuchan música, es decir desarrollan una serie de actividades que en sus casas no las pueden realizar, donde se encuentran y eso los motiva.

Esa motivación la han tomado los gestores como medio para alcanzar otras metas que no son tan bien asimiladas como son: normas de conductas, hábitos de higiene personal, actitudes y formas de manifestación en el hogar. Uno de los aspectos en los que se ha hecho énfasis es en contribuir al logro de la independencia, tanto para la realización de grabados como de otras actividades. En el taller se les orienta, se les enseña, pero siempre se les deja hacer a ellos, desarrollando de esta forma determinadas capacidades y habilidades que les posibilita manifestarse como personas con ciertos niveles de autovalidismo.

Como elemento significativo para el logro de estos propósitos ha sido el vínculo con la “Universidad de Pinar del Río” y específicamente con la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y Humanísticas, lo cual se pone de manifiesto de diferentes formas:
•cada curso escolar los estudiantes de la carrera de Estudios Socioculturales han desarrollado sus prácticas investigativas en el marco del proyecto, obteniendo resultados meritorios.
•profesores y estudiantes de la carrera de Estudios Socioculturales se han sentido inspirados a realizar sus investigaciones de grado, maestrías y doctorados en el seno del proyecto.
•estudiantes extranjeros han realizado sus prácticas investigativas en el proyecto alcanzando la máxima calificación y llevando consigo la experiencia adquirida en un proyecto que cada día trabaja, se supera e irradia amor, solidaridad, respeto y armonía.
)De esta forma el proyecto “Con amor y esperanza para personas con Síndrome de Down” no solo tributa al desarrollo de estas personas, sino que a través de 22 años de trabajo se ha convertido en escenario importante para el desarrollo intelectual, profesional y espiritual.

During the development of the project, literacy and oral language skills have been developed, many learned to sign and write their names in order to authenticate their work. In the case of oral language, it is the one that has developed the most as a result of the workshop evaluations, which are carried out at the end of the workshop and where each person must present what he/she has done.

For them, attending the project is a day of celebration, so they look forward to it, they wait, they count the days of the week, to see when it is their turn to meet, because it is a day when they do nice things, where they are allowed to talk, give their opinion, where they go out, express themselves, listen to music, that is, they develop a series of activities that they cannot do at home, where they meet and that motivates them.
)This motivation has been taken by the managers as a means to achieve other goals that are not so well assimilated, such as: behavioral norms, personal hygiene habits, attitudes and forms of manifestation at home. One of the aspects that have been emphasized is to contribute to the achievement of independence, both for the realization of engravings and other activities. In the workshop they are guided and taught, but they are always left to do their own thing, thus developing certain abilities and skills that enable them to manifest themselves as people with certain levels of self-validation.
)A significant element for the achievement of these purposes has been the link with the "Universidad de Pinar del Río" and specifically with the Faculty of Social and Humanistic Sciences, which is evidenced in different ways:
- each school year, students of the Sociocultural Studies program have developed their research practices within the framework of the project, obtaining meritorious results.
- Professors and students of the Sociocultural Studies program have been inspired to carry out their undergraduate, master's and doctoral research within the project.
- foreign students have carried out their research internships in the project, achieving the highest qualification and taking with them the experience acquired in a project that every day works, surpasses itself and radiates love, solidarity, respect and harmony.
)In this way, the project "With love and hope for people with Down Syndrome" not only contributes to the development of these people, but through 12 years of work has become an important stage for the intellectual, professional and spiritual.
