Me pregunté.

Hello Dear friends of Hive😊, today I want to share with you what for me was the most difficult stage of my life, but which left me a lot of fantastic experiences and formed me not only as a professional but also as a person, this is the story of how I graduated as a doctor in a very difficult personal economic scenario.

How I got into medicine

I must start by putting in context some aspects of my life: I am the only son of a wonderful mother who raised me alone, since my father abandoned us since I was born, we come from a small town on the outskirts of Aragua state called Villa de Cura, so my mother as a fighter woman, took me forward with much effort and love.

When I graduated from high school, my thought was to enter the military life, and yes, you probably ask me why and the truth I do not know, it may be because I studied in a military high school or that my father is military, or maybe because my mother worked for many years for the military, the truth is that I was determined to study in the military aviation school, But inside me there was never a love for it, I think I felt socially pressured to do what they said I should be, in 4th year of high school, it was time to get the list of universities and careers to which I wanted to apply and the first rule we had was that we should not put military careers, so the first thing I put up was, You can imagine, right?

Yes, medicine, I remember that there were 3 options and the three were medicine in different universities 😂, and after that I completely forgot about it and continued studying until I graduated, having already the bachelor's degree I had already submitted the tests to enter the military aviation school and had been selected, Everything was ready, or so I thought, but life surprises us in peculiar ways and one day before going formally to study in the military life I got the news that I was admitted to the career of medicine at the National Experimental University Romulo Gallegos, and now what do I do? I asked myself

It was a very difficult decision to make, because on the one hand I did not want to disappoint my mother in her dream of seeing me as a military man, in addition to all the expense that had already been made, but on the other hand I felt a great motivation to be a doctor, so I decided to listen to my heart, talk to my mom and decline my entry into military life and study medicine in San Juan de los Morros.

My first 3 years of my career
.

The Rómulo Gallegos University is located in the state of Guárico, Venezuela, and I live in the state of Aragua, it is approximately a two hour drive, so when I started, I decided that I was going to travel daily so I would not have to live near the university, and so I did, during the first months of my first year I would get up at 3 am and arrive home at 8 pm, I had to start studying at about 10 am to get up again at 3 am, it was quite difficult to do it that way and the truth is that I was so tired that it was impossible to stay awake to study, I drank a lot of coffee haha and although I was having very good grades, my health was already being affected, plus the danger of road trips due to constant robberies.

In the middle of my first year, I talk to my mother and decide to reside in San Juan de los morros, it was certainly a gift and a blessing the residence we found, I will write you later how it was that day, but it was in a very very cheap price and it was a great opportunity, so we took advantage of it and once resided my average rose much more.

From the second year of medicine, my country began with a very difficult social and economic crisis, and obviously it affected us all, going back to travel was not an option because the ticket was more expensive than the rent of the month in the residence, so I had to eat every other day.

Something that broke my heart completely is that my mother, who was already retired, and only earned two old age pensions, gave me everything she earned for me to study, she went very hungry for many years because of my studies and so did I, that shaped me in such a way that for me there was only one goal, to graduate with honors and give her that joy, to make it worthwhile.

So far I'm sure you have the question: How did I survive so many years without eating well, without money and how did I solve that?

resilience in the face of adversity

The first thing I thought was that I could not sit and cry, I had to find a solution so I thought what am I good at? And bingo, I had the answer, as I was a good student and I was very good at studying, I chose to offer services to my classmates, designing slides, making study guides, giving classes and although it took me almost all night to do that in addition to studying, with that I had the money to live in San Juan, and that my mother did not spend all that I charged.

But, I was not alone in all those years, I had a group of angels who came into my life, among great friends that I consider brothers and sisters who often gave me food, their mothers sent me breakfast or dinner, some took me into their home and fed me for a while, and others even helped me financially.

a goal achieved

In 5th year of medicine I weighed 50kg and I am 1.80 kg my ideal weight should be at least 75kg you can imagine the degree of malnutrition I had, but you know what? everything got better, all those blessings of dad God, the sacrifice of my mother and all those beautiful people who helped me made it possible for me to graduate as a Surgeon Doctor, Magna Cumlaude mention, number 4 of 1600 people, and number 1 in the state of Aragua.

The day I gave my words in the master class as the first academic index, I hugged my mother very tightly and told her: "WE MADE IT, dress beautiful, as beautiful as you can, today is a day of celebration and happiness.

My legs, between trembling and fainting, supported me to give a clear and precise message: No matter what situation you are going through, you can always get ahead, you can always succeed, you can always fight and above all, you will never be alone, there will always be someone there.

So if you who read me and you are going through a difficult life situation, cheer up, take a deep breath and fight, that if you fall down it doesn't matter, you get up stronger and all that constancy will be light at the end of the tunnel . 🤗😄💪
