Hello readers and writers of HIVE, I hope and wish that everyone is well and grateful for another day of life where we can breathe, eat, see, walk, and more.
I know I tend to get lost for days and even months, but my life isn't exactly eventful, so to speak. However, today I want to share a special post with you about my experience searching for and finding my 4-wheeler to get around. I hope you like it.
I'm from Caracas, Venezuela. For those of you reading this for the first time, my name is Gabriela. I suffer from a condition affecting my bones and body, with several symptoms, called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bones). Because of this, my bones are very weak, but that doesn't stop me from moving them, especially if I can't stand or lean on them. Based on this brief summary, I can't walk and need help to get around.
This has meant I've been using a wheelchair for some time now, and by 'some time', well, it's been some time now that I've started, let's say, going out a little more, whether it's to the hospital or running errands, hehe. Before, I didn't tend to use it.
I've been using a wheelchair for about 16 years now, and I had one that lasted 10 years. The only problem that made me change it and look for another one was that the brakes weren't working anymore, which caused me to get into trouble. Hehe. But anyway, here we are to tell the story. The search for one wasn't easy. They found me one, but it was too big for me, and I ended up lending it and then giving it away because it wasn't working for me, while I used the one with the broken brakes.
But your servant, who is writing this, is a true believer, and after searching so hard, I found a foundation they'd mentioned before, called funda procura. But I waited, since another foundation was already doing some work for me. Seeing how long it was taking, I sent them the application myself, which was responded to positively. :D, Thank God.
The delivery day was August 20th of this year. A blue wheelchair was quite comfortable and came with its accessories for repair. The armrests are raised so the patient can transfer from the wheelchair to a bed, armchair, another chair, or another surface, which makes it quite practical. Not to mention that the footrests are also removed, which makes moving the wheelchair or putting it in a cart a little easier and takes up less space. Believe it or not, not everyone has accepted me with a wheelchair.
One detail worth noting about that day was that, on behalf of Fundaoivzla, a small, new foundation where I work and collaborate making accessories, I had the great opportunity to deliver two beautiful DNA woven bracelets. This filled me with great joy since that nerve-wracking procedure resulted in several cool things that I hope will happen soon.
With all this said, it's time to say goodbye, but not before thanking life and everyone who has helped me in one way or another. I can't thank you enough. Thank you, God bless you all. Hola lectores y escritores de HIVE espero y deseo que todos estén bien y agradecidos por un día mas de vida donde podemos respirar, comer, ver, caminar y demás.
Se que tiendo a perderme por muchos días y hasta meses pero es que mi vida no tiene muchos acontecimientos que se diga, pero hoy os quiero compartir un post especial y es que os quiero contar mi experiencia buscando y encontrando mi vehículo de 4 ruedas para movilizarme, espero os agrade.
Soy de Caracas/Venezuela para los que me leen por 1ra vez me llamo Gabriela y sufro de una condición en mis huesos o cuerpo porque tiene varios síntomas llamada Osteogénesis Imperfecta, Huesos de cristal, y por esta razón mis huesos están demasiado debilitado mas eso no me impide movilizarlos mas si pararme, o afincarme en ellos, por esta pequeña síntesis que les acabo de dar no puedo caminar, y necesito de ayuda para poder movilizarme.
Esto me hace usar silla de ruedas desde hace algún tiempo, y porque digo desde hace un tiempo, bueno es que desde hace algún tiempo es que empecé digámoslo así a salir un poquito mas, así sea para el hospital o diligencias jeje, antes no la tendía a usar.
Desde hace ya aproximadamente 16 años uso silla de rueda y tenia una que me duro 10 años, y el único fallo que me hizo cambiarla y buscar otra fue que ya los frenos no le funcionaban y eso hacia que me llevara cada susto, jeje pero bueno acá estamos para contar la historia, ya que la búsqueda de la misma no fue fácil, y es que me consiguieron una pero esta era muy grande para mi, y la termine prestando y luego regalando, ya que no me servía, mientras usaba la que tenia los frenos dañados.
Pero su servidora que es quien les escribe es muy creyente, y tanto buscar me hizo llegar a una fundación que ya me habían nombrado antes, llamada funda procura pero esperaba, ya que me estaban haciendo una diligencia antes desde otra fundación pero el ver que eso tardaba me hizo enviarles yo misma la solicitud la cual fue respondida positivamente :D, Gracias a Dios.
El día de la entrega fue el 20 de agosto del año en curso, una silla de ruedas color azul la cual es bastante cómoda, y vino con sus accesorio para reparar. la misma se le levantan los posadores de brazos, para que el paciente se pueda pasar de la silla de ruedas a la cama, sillón, otra silla u otra superficie, lo que hace bastante practica la misma, sin contar que donde se colocan los pies también se le retira lo que hace que al momento de trasladarla o meterla en un carro sea un poco mas fácil y ocupe menos espacio ya que no crean no todos me han aceptado con la silla de ruedas.
Un detalle para acotar de ese día, fue que de parte de Fundaoivzla una pequeña y nueva fundación donde estoy y colaboro haciendo accesorios, tuve la gran oportunidad de entregar 2 hermosas pulseras de tejido adn, esto me lleno de mucha alegria ya que de esa intervencion que tuve, donde los nervios me atacaron salieron varias cositas cheveres que espero se den pronto.
Dicho todo esto me toca despedirme pero no sin antes dando gracias a la vida y a todos lo que de una u otra forma me han ayudado no saben como se los agradezco, gracias Dios me los bendiga mucho, y éxitos para toda mi gente de HIVE que toma unos minutos de su tiempo para leer o comentar en mis post, gracias.
