Mi trayectoria como una Voluntaria // My journey as a Volunteer
Hola comunidad Catarsis en esta oportunidad les voy a contar sobre mi trayectoria como voluntaria en una Organización no Gubernamental de carácter Humanitario. Principalmente voy a contar un poco sobre la organización: es el Movimiento Internacional más grande de Ayuda Humanitaria existente, ya que su accionar se extiende a los 194 países que conforman el mundo, su objetivo es el de aliviar el sufrimiento humano en todos sus contextos, tales como desastres naturales u originados por el hombres y conflictos armados, y todas aquellas situaciones internas que pueda vivir un país. Se han de preguntar como es posible esto, bueno, el movimiento cuenta con diversos programas que trabajan en las diferentes áreas de la necesidad humana y cada uno tiene un accionar diferente, en otra publicación les contaré de cuáles son los programas y cuál es su accionar.
Hello Catarsis community, this time I am going to tell you about my career as a volunteer in a Humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization. Mainly I am going to tell you a little about the organization: it is the largest International Movement of Humanitarian Aid in existence, since its actions extend to the 194 countries that make up the world, its objective is to alleviate human suffering in all contexts, such as natural disasters or caused by men and armed conflicts, and all those internal situations that a country can live. You may wonder how this is possible, well, the movement has several programs that work in different areas of human need and each one has a different action, in another publication I will tell you which are the programs and what is their action.

Ingrese a este movimiento a la edad de 15 años, es algo bastante curioso el como termine ahí: en el año de 2019 un vecino me comento que estaban buscando voluntarios en el movimiento, que iban a iniciar un curso de inducción, no tenia la menor idea de que trataba pero como en pocas palabras no hacía nada más allá que estudiar y me encontraba en un periodo de necesidad por hacer cosas, sin saber donde me estaba metiendo, le comenté a una vecina y fuimos un sábado al sitio donde se encuentra la institución aquí en el estado, casualmente queda cerca de mi vivienda. Llegamos como pollitos sin cabeza y para más leña al fuego, llegamos en la presentación de pleno examen (ingresamos una semana después del inicio del curso) y bueno, a la buena de la vida, presentamos, sabiendo que nos iría mal y efectivamente salimos mal, ese fue el inicio de una gran trayectoria.
I joined this movement at the age of 15, it is something quite curious how I ended up there: in 2019 a neighbor told me that they were looking for volunteers in the movement, they were going to start an induction course, I had no idea what it was about but as in a few words I did nothing beyond studying and I was in a period of need to do things, without knowing where I was getting, I told a neighbor and we went one Saturday to the place where the institution is located here in the state, it happens to be near my house. We arrived like headless chicks and to add fuel to the fire, we arrived in the presentation of the exam (we entered a week after the start of the course) and well, we presented, knowing that we would do badly and indeed we went wrong, that was the beginning of a great trajectory.
Aproximadamente 3 meses, estuve recibiendo clases sobre la historia del movimiento así como también de los diferentes programas activos en el mismo y sus funciones, la finalidad de la inducción es que conociéramos absolutamente todo y decidiéramos en que área queríamos apoyar. En ese proceso de enseñanza me llamó la atención un programa que su accionar esta enfocado en diversas áreas de atención a emergencias: prehospitalaria, gestión de riesgos y administración de desastres, manejo de albergues, rescates…sumando a eso, manejar toda la historia del movimiento, bases legales…a los que se forman en este programa son conocidos como “socorristas” pero por factor edad no pude ingresar a esta formación, aunque actualmente sí me estoy formando con ellos y próximamente me graduare a mediados de año como miembro de la formación XIV.
For approximately 3 months, I was receiving classes on the history of the movement as well as the different programs active in it and their functions, the purpose of the induction is that we knew absolutely everything and decided in which area we wanted to support. In this teaching process, a program called my attention that its actions are focused on various areas of emergency care: pre-hospital, risk management and disaster management, shelter management, rescue ... adding to that, manage the entire history of the movement, legal bases ... those who are trained in this program are known as "rescuers" but due to age factor I could not enter this training, although I am currently training with them and soon I will graduate in mid-year as a member of the formation XIV.
En vista de que no podía ingresar a este programa, estuve analizando otras opciones. En el proceso de enseñanza recibimos capacitación en un programa (que mencione en mi primer post) cuyo enfoque es el de restablecer y mantener el contacto entre las familias, en su momento, me enamore de este programa y de lo que representaba, me parecía algo hermoso que personas estuvieran a disposición de poner de su tiempo para ayudar a otros y darles la oportunidad de poder volver a reconectar con sus familias, darles esperanzas de que hay una opción para saber del paradero de un familiar del cual tienen tiempo sin saber. Estuve siendo voluntaria de este programa y siendo la aprendiz de los encargados de este programa, quienes fueron mis guías dentro de la labor del mismo y me entrenaron, me dieron y me dan consejos con respecto a mí accionar. Aunque no estén actualmente prestando su labor voluntaria por el contexto país (emigraron) estaré eternamente agradecida con ellos por darme las herramientas para desarrollarme en esta hermosa área del movimiento de la cual soy coordinadora desde hace un año.
Since I could not enter this program, I was analyzing other options. In the teaching process we received training in a program (which I mentioned in my first post) whose focus is to restore and maintain contact between families, at the time, I fell in love with this program and what it represented, it seemed to me something beautiful that people were available to put their time to help others and give them the opportunity to reconnect with their families, give them hope that there is an option to know the whereabouts of a family member of whom they have long been unaware. I have been volunteering in this program and being the apprentice of the people in charge of this program, who were my guides in the work of this program and they trained me, gave me and still give me advice regarding my actions. Although they are not currently volunteering because of the country context (they emigrated) I will be eternally grateful to them for giving me the tools to develop myself in this beautiful area of the movement of which I have been the coordinator for a year.
No ha sido un camino fácil, adquirir ese tipo de responsabilidad a mi edad, ser responsable de un programa, a pesar de tener un apoyo, llegó a ser intimidante: una niña en un mundo de adultos.
It has not been an easy road, taking on that kind of responsibility at my age, being responsible for a program, despite having support, became intimidating: a child in an adult world.
Adaptarme para estar al alcance de los otros y demostrar que soy capaz de coordinar un programa en conjunto con mi compañera, de levantarlo y convertirlo en uno de los más activos en la región oriente. Ha sido un trayecto con sus altos y bajos, aún así, puedo decir con toda la certeza del mundo que he dado, que hemos dado lo mejor de nosotras para el bienestar del programa y de los beneficiarios del mismo.
Adapting myself to be within the reach of others and demonstrating that I am capable of coordinating a program together with my partner, to lift it up and make it one of the most active in the eastern region. It has been a journey with its ups and downs, even so, I can say with all the certainty in the world that I have given, that we have given the best of ourselves for the welfare of the program and its beneficiaries.
Contamos con un maravillo equipo de 7 personas (incluyéndome) que damos todo por el todo por llevar este programa adelante.
We have a wonderful team of 7 people (including myself) who give our all to carry this program forward.
Nuestra labor de Restablecimiento del Contacto entre Familiares abarca diferentes actividades cuya finalidad es la establecer nuevamente estos lazos familiares rotos por causas Humanitarias y prestar ayuda a las personas que se encuentran en el exterior del país: búsqueda de personas, envío de documentos de identidad, entrega de mensajes a personas en detención, apoyo psicológico, ofreciendo servicios de Conectividad (llamadas nacionales e internacionales, mensajes, recarga de batería, servicio WiFi y más).
Our work of Restoring Family Links includes different activities whose purpose is to re-establish these family ties broken for humanitarian reasons and to help people who are outside the country: searching for people, sending identity documents, delivering messages to people in detention, psychological support, offering connectivity services (national and international calls, messages, battery recharging, WiFi service and more).
