Hasta el día de hoy, han sido las palabras más desagradables que he escuchado en mi vida en una reunión de trabajo cuando mi jefe se lo recalcó a un compañero de trabajo.
Si bien es cierto que nadie, absolutamente nadie es imprescindible en un empleo, no es razón para querer rebajar la dignidad de una persona que vale por lo que es y lo que sabe y no por lo que carece tener.
Como sabrán, soy venezolano radicado en Chile desde hace 4 años (el tiempo literalmente pasa volando) y llevo más de dos años como administrador de un Centro de Eventos, pero también hago el mantenimiento de los 5 mil metros cuadrados del recinto, de manera que, tuve que buscar a alguien para que me ayudara en esa tarea, y por supuesto, busqué a otro venezolano que acababa de llegar a Chile y necesitaba un contrato de trabajo para estar lo más legal posible en este país.

Todo iba marchando muy bien hasta que la pandemia apareció, impidiendo realizar todas las actividades programadas para el año 2020 y 2021; Esto ocasionó que, los ingresos fuesen inferiores a los gastos, de manera que tuvimos que hacer otros tipos de trabajos para mantener a raya los gastos y mantener el lugar mientras se daban los permisos para realizar las actividades (cumpleaños, matrimonios, etc.) pero no siempre lográbamos cumplir las metas.
Toda persona tiene atributos y también defectos, y en este sentido, mi jefe no quedó inmune a estas cosas. Él es una persona que logró forjar su fortuna con sacrificio y a punta de trabajo, como director de una corporación educativa por más de 30 años y hoy se dedica a una tienda deportiva y al negocio de los eventos, donde yo administro el recinto, entre otros deberes.
Muchas veces puede ser una persona muy ecuánime, pero cuando se trata de dinero, puede llegar a ser el más déspota que haya conocido.

He can often be a very sensible person, but when it comes to money, he can be the most despot person I've ever met.
Mi Compañero de Trabajo
Mi compañero de trabajo tiene muchas cualidades ya que conoce de muchas áreas, desde la construcción hasta la electricidad, de manera que puede defenderse en diversas áreas sin problemas, pero ese día, en esa reunión, con una actitud algo enaltecida le dijo: Para mí, solamente eres un número dándole a entender que si su trabajo no cubría al menos su salario, simplemente lo podía despedir y buscar a otro al que le pagará menos salario, lo cual es una amenaza muy común aquí en Chile para los extranjeros.
Sé muy bien lo que se siente cuando alguien menosprecia tus habilidades y capacidades, de manera que pude entender el sentimiento que tuvo que sentir y que su cara pudo reflejar.

Termas de Chillán: Lugar donde elimino el estrés
Al terminar la reunión, salí a caminar con mi compañero para hablarle de algunas tareas pendientes de ese día y aproveché para decirle algunas cosas que yo pensaba, y le dije:
Ahora estamos en otro país y muchos buscarán aprovecharse de nosotros o menospreciarnos, no obstante, esa es la opinión que ellos pueden tener y no necesariamente la nuestra que es la que realmente importa. Si vas a pegar un ladrillo, procura pegarlo de la forma más perfectamente posible; Tienes que ser el mejor en el lugar donde estés empleado. Vale mucho lo que pienses de ti mismo, pues eso va a influir en tus decisiones y en tu actitud ante la vida y el mundo.
¡No eres un número! Eres un ser humano capaz de realizar cualquier actividad que te propongas y acabarla con destreza. El hecho de que estemos en otro país no fue porque no estuviésemos muriendo de hambre, como muchos suponen, sino que nuestro país nos quedó pequeño para nuestros sueños a causa de sus gobernantes.

Que hermosas las palabras que dijiste a tu amigo. Muy cierto nadie es mejor que nadie en ninguna circunstancia. Yo no he emigrado, no me atrevo o siento que mi lugar es aquí, pero soy nieta de inmigrantes, y admiro la tenacidad y el temple de los que lo hacen para trabajar honradamente y con mucho esfuerzo.
