Staying healthy is more than just working out or showing up regularly at the gym; it has to do with a mix of everyday activities that keeps us feeling great in and out. I have seen a few people with terrible lifestyles consistently going for workouts, and it's not surprising when they start complaining about struggling to stay fit.
We all know that the gym is a good place to shed some fat and running and other exercise helps burn calories, but the truth is that we need more than these things to stay healthy, physically and mentally.
I am not disputing the fact that people need to exercise, but it's not just enough. Let's look at it from the point where not going to the gym for a whole week won't affect you, but there are other things you just can't go a day without if you ever want to be healthy.
I have a few other activities that contribute to me staying healthy, and when it comes to taking care of myself, I don't joke with it. These other things I do have become a routine, or should I say a lifestyle, because it didn't start today.

The things that pass through our mouth into the belly have a great impact on our health, and no matter how much we go to the gym without eating healthy, we will struggle to stay healthy. It's funny when some people say food only has a physical impact on us.
That's wrong, and it's important that we all know that the things we eat or drink have more than just a physical impact, and alcohol is one good example since it tips people off the balance mentally.
When it comes to food, I take things personally, and my practices include avoiding junk food or eating out excessively and eating healthy meals at the right time. A lot of people who have read my blog a few times can tell how much I enjoy preparing my meals, so eating out or depending on junk has never been my thing.

I love to eat homemade foods only to ensure that the food is properly prepared, and it's really satisfying if I am being honest. As a matter of fact, I can't remember the last time I ate outside my home, and it all started with my mom ensuring that we cook at every meal when I was a lot younger.
For me, the food I eat has a huge impact on me, so I just have to do it right. In addition to eating healthy, staying hydrated has become a fantastic routine, and it's one of the reasons I go about with my bottle. It's quite helpful, and you can't understand the benefit until you make it a habit.

Sleeping and resting are another important thing to me, and they contribute a lot to helping me stay healthy. While journeying through life, there was a time when I deprived myself of enough sleeping and resting time. I was always on the move trying to make money, and the repercussions of that lifestyle didn't go well for me.
Despite working really hard and earning fairly, I was still broke because a good percentage of my earnings goes into treating illness. I fell sick from time to time, and at one time, I had to make the decision of taking my sleeping and rest time seriously.
For every human, it's important for us to sleep so we can always regain the lost strength, and we can rest in between our daily activities to prevent complete exhaustion. While resting, I don't necessarily stay idle, like other people think it's the right way to rest.
I engage in less stressful activities, things I enjoy doing, and it works.

The minimalist lifestyle is another thing that helps me stay healthy mentally. Regularly decluttering my physical and mental space, practicing mindfulness, keeping my existence simple, and doing things I actually love help a lot.
It's been over a decade since I adopted the lifestyle and I can tell that life has been a lot better. No pressure, and it feels great moving through life at my pace while enjoying every moment.
If you really read through the post, you will realize that there isn't much I am doing, and yet, those simple practices help me a lot in every ramification of life. Away from the gym, staying healthy costs us almost nothing more than being committed to our well-being, but unfortunately, it's the most challenging thing to do for so many people.

Emphasize on that home made food and sleep is everything 🤗🤗
Thanks for sharing your insights.
I am glad you enjoyed reading. It has always been my mentality that eating out is overrated.
I know there are times when we want to try new recipes and might be too lazy to cook but homemade foods will always be the best option for us.
See food na, please pass some over here.
Don't mind me, the food just looks photogenic and I should be the one asking for breakfast today. 😆
Eating good is the way out of sickness and the greatest medical checkup
You are right, sir. Regularly checking the status of our health is very important too.
Yep
Even as I read this, I wished for night time to come quickly so I can close and fall to bed and rest 😅. Sleep/rest is too good.
Food is a necessary thing. 💯
Lolz, it's actually a good thing to always sleep when our body demands it.
