RE: Sam’s Hangout #114 - “PARENTS AND UNSPOKEN FEELINGS”

in Hive Naija3 months ago

Happy weekend my people... before I sleep, make I sharperly drop this full album here.

Giving my response to the the second question, in my own way I'd listen to my children without immediately fixing or judging them and even trying to compare them because from what I know and what I have seen, I believe that children will stop talking and begin to hold back when honesty brings lectures and all these unnecessary talks. And secrecy is not rebellion, it's protection and that is one of the reasons why most children hide what they have learned is not safe to show you

My mum once told me a little story about my childhood. She said I was very stubborn and because of my stubborness I do get beaten by her. She said most especially when I'm being asked questions, I will know the answer but refuse to say something. So she concluded it was due to stubborness. She said even after beating me I will still not say anything.

But she had no idea I was actually scared. Scared of being punished incase my answer is incorrect. So recently we were just having a mother to daughters gist and flashed back memories. That was how she found out I was actually battling with anxiety at that age. In fact i told her a lot of things I wanted to share with her so badly then.

Let's just say the world is advanced now. While some parents are trying to listen to their children the society call it bad training. why? because it didn't involve beating especially when the child is disrespectful.

Being disrespectful is different from when a child have so many things to talk about and needed someone to talk to so badly.

I don't even know if I'm on track cause I haven't read the topic.😂😂😂 I will come back to correct any errors.

It's really important to listen to children without judgment, the moment you judge kids, they get scared of opening up...

Yeah 👍 thanks for sharing light

You are welcome 🤗

Sorry about that, I believe that your mum didn't know about it and that was why she beat now. Now that you know better, same mistake won't happen when you have your kids

Yeah you're right ☺️

I once have a baby boy living with us before and he's exactly like that. I remember beating him so well one day when I knew he actually knew the answer and refused to say anything even after trials and beating. I think I get the cause now

Yeah it's just fear of saying the wrong thing or giving the wrong answer. The funniest part is, after the term I always present a good result.😂😂 Thinking about it now makes me want to laugh.

Just give him time, take the cane away you will see that he might do well.

He's not even here with us anymore jare.... I wonder how your mum would feel when you bring home those excellent results

😂😂😂 surprised I guess.

I just read the part that you're stubborn and it's okay for me. I'll leave the rest for others.😌

Of course that's the only thing you will hold on to. Trouble maker I don't want to see you in my dream so go away.

I hold on to the important stuff. Sorry, I've bought ticket to your dreamland.

I totally agree. Active listening without judgment is an effective tool that draws children closer to their parents. I'm glad you will be utilizing that and I hope the future parents here will do just the same. Happy weekend!

Yes! I'm also glad and I know better now. Happy weekend! Make sure you enjoy this weekend

I've always disliked the comparison thing and encouraged people not to. It doesn't really help. Yeah.
