Two areas that I believe my country can improve on to make life better for its citizens and to post them in a better sport is the area of bad roads and insecurity. As citizens of Nigeria we have been dealing with the issue of bad roads from time immemorial and somehow the government turns a blind eye to this common issues that are necessary it is safe lives. Most times when it's time for election on the time for power to change hands these politicians give a great and bring that manifesto that you think would change the entire life of the country and the people as well, the promise to repair bad roads, enhance the security system of the country, provide better life and so many more but upon getting to office all their promises and no longer valid.
In my country Nigeria the roads are bad in virtually all the communities and it gets worse when it's the rainy season. Citizens have to deal with the nemesis that comes with the neglect that bad politicians who cannot complete their duty by putting solutions in place to tackle such issues. This has caused a lot of havoc for travellers, due to the issues of bad roads transport have increased making people to spend more than bargained for, business men and women now top up their prices because of the losses they encounter during moving their goods from one state to another. Also, the damage these bad roads cause to vehicles can make people spend exorbitantly on repairs.
Just yesterday, I engaged on a trip to a city called sapele in Delta state, I had to take bus all the way to benin first before I took another bus going to my destination. It would have been an easy trip regarding the fact that it was a straight road but it was still difficult to navigate through. The roads were so bad that it makes us wonder if those in higher places or in government do not them and call for solutions immediately. The potholes are so bad even in the dry season when there is no rain, now imagine when it's the raining season. Last year we had to cancel many appointments like travelling home for the Christmas/festive holidays because the roads were not motorable. The accidents were countless.
Subsequently, the issue of insecurity is another big problem we have in this country, most armed robberies and kidnappings takes place in the bad spots along the long. These people tactically stay in places where a driver would not be able to speed up and then they would strike. There has been lots of kidnappings in the areas , even in local communities and they ask for exorbitant prices for the release of their victims. Just last week, a family friend's daughter was kidnapped while she was coming back from work in just the next community. She was captured till her parents gathered the sum of 5 million naira to rescue her.
These issues can be tackled if the government put in place the necessary security agents in various locations of the state and equip the police force by educating them as they seem to be a joke now.
