Hello Hive

In many context regarding this prompt we have read so much about how alot of people have been lamenting about the underdeveloped state of their towns and villages. Well these issues will continue to be so since we have noticed how the governments have been slacking in issues regarding the development of our states. In that regard I will like to write these prompts telling you a little about my town and the approach I wish we can adopt to develop our town by ourselves.
There are certains things we can do for ourselves and not everything should be left to the governments

I am monica-ene and will like to tell you a little about Ugbokolo town in Benue state, although it has been awhile since I have been home regardless I am in touch with my people at home and have stayed updated with all the happenings.
Hopefully I will visit home more often and effect the changes I wish to see in my town.

My town is a peaceful place and even though the state is situated in the north central part of the country, we have a tropical rain forest with distinct wet and dry season. I remember all the mangoes, African star apples, bananas and fruits I enjoy each time I visit home.
We have a lot of fruits tress, palm trees and plantations, the soil is
rich and our occupation is farming.
You will find yams, cassava, palm, Scotch bonnet, sesame, peppers, rice, soya beans and many more.

They are mostly traditional worshipers with some beautiful cultural heritage. We celebrate different festivals. Such a gathering of happy people. Regardless of the difference in the three predominant languages we still live and enjoy each others company.

Some of the challenges facing my home town starts with the common challenges people facing every state of the country. There is no quality road network linking the town to other places. Each time I am traveling home I have to stick my head out of the window to make sure that I don't miss the bush path that leads to my family house at home.
The roads are untiled and you better go there with a nose mask to avoid inhaling too much of the dust.

Well my home town is yet to see experience electric power supply in most of the locations. Can you imagine that in a century like this we are yet to see a light bulb. Imagine a town in total darkness, alot of vices have been taking place and I'm sure that the total darkness is the reason for the recent hike in kidnappings.

I will not suggest the installation of solar panels because of the weather conditions of the place, we amount of sunshine that will lighten the solar panels might not be sufficient especially in the raining season.

Another challenge is the total absence of a quality water supply. Not a single borehole in sight yet, we all drink and make use of water from some river surrounding each town. My village is one among the places that uses this ever. Each river has a name attacked to it and some history to such names.
Outbreak of cholera and other water born diseases has always been the order of the day. And going through our towns clinic folders it can be evident that these are some of the diseases that are epidemic to my hometown.

Possible Solution and way out for my people.

Well we may not experience the government intervention any anytime soon but there are certains things we can do to make life easy for us.
In recent times we have seen individuals wealthy enough to donate to some infraction to their communities. Individuals can come together to contribute funds to raise up developmental structures for our town.

If we can build the boreholes for ourselves and fix some electric lines, Benue state and it's town is a beautiful place that can be a center for tourist attractions and foreign investment. The altogether fundraising will make the financial burden easy on everyone and having such infrastructure will benefit everyone. Rather than squander our individual resources on ourselves alone we can work together to make a better town for our children.

You gave a good description of your town. No supply of electricity and lack of good roads connecting the town to other places and water supply are very serious issues; they are important factors to making the town a better place.

Waiting for the government is a not a wise decision, your suggestion is a lot better. Coming together to agree on projects that will benefits each commnunity in the town is the right thing to do at this point.
