Could affluent left-leaning Martha's Vineyard residents have accommodated the migrants?

Martha's Vineyard is an island off the coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. It is home to many members of the American elite, most of whom are left-leaning and pro-immigration. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently sent a plane with about 50 illegal immigrants, predominantly of Venezuelan origin, to the island. The response of the locals was largely an outrage as, they argued, they had to space for those migrants and it was basically an affront and mockery of their politics by DeSantis - which, I would say, it largely was, though this mockery by way of a practical test was largely deserved. The migrants have since been moved to military baracks on Cape Cod. Some have since found other local accommodations - I presume, with their family and friends.

Meanwhile, MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, has decided to donate two Beverly Hills, California mansions she owned to house those in need. I suspect those mansions alone would have easily housed those migrants. Could Martha's Vineyard residents have found ways to help them too if they so chose? Let's take a look.

Barack Obama, an ex-President and a resident of the island, was planning to invite 475 people to his estate to celebrate his 60th birthday in the August of 2021. The party plans were changed and he opted for a smaller crowd due to COVID restrictions but he had enough space n his estate to have built tents large enough to accommodate hundreds of people in anticipation of the event. So could he accommodate 50 migrants? I would say, yes. And he is not the most affluent resident on the Vineyard, nor, if I am not mistaken, is his estate the largest.

So think of this - in a community where many estates individually could take in all the migrants involved and where at least half the population supports liberal immigration policy they have failed to accommodate 50 migrants when time came to put their proclaimed convictions to a practical test. Draw your own conclusions.

How to be elite and left-leaning at the same time. I haven't seen this situation anywhere else.
