Chris Martenson was a high level executive, who became a homesteader. (and podcaster on ThemTube) He worked out that each head of broccoli he grew costs him several hundred dollars. But, he said it was well worth it. That he was reluctant to get into it, but today, he would have ran towards it.
Growing your own food is sooooo satisfying. And it is more nutritious. And you know exactly where it has been. And you cannot begin to imagine telling someone the difference between a store bought tomato, ripened with kerosene, and a vine ripened tomato. Of course, you can give them one, and then they will know. (maybe, some people lack taste)
Do you know that they used to make tomato jelly? Blew my mind when i saw that. Guy remembered eating it as a kid from grandma, and the worked out the recipe… just needs really ripe tomatoes.
