When basically any politician's statements are checked for truth it turns out that almost all of them are at the minimum stretching the truth because the truth doesn't set you free or even moreso, get you elected. They just way whatever to whoever happens to be in front of them at the time and when it gets figured out that they were completely full of shit, they just don't ever talk about it. It's so common that I think it is an intentional tactic nowadays.

Yesterday we had an ANC politician telling everyone that the National Health system after the elections will be available for all and there will be no need for private medical. This is a blatant lie because the government cannot afford this service and we all know this. They will win and back track on their promises blaming a misunderstanding.
