Using different bases encournages people to think. As a programmer I find that many problems become easier when I stick with base two.

With binary computers, base 2 is the way to think.
If you had an 8008 you would notice that octal was great. The first two bits tell you what kind of command, and the next three bits are the from register and last three the too register
Syllogisms reduce to true or false. People seem to be adept at syllogistic reasoning base two is clearly more powerful than base ten which is actually quite confusing.
