If an American was denied entry to a foreign country for resisting demands to unlock their phone, admitting to doing something perfectly legal here while here, or having memes mocking foreign officials, we would be rightfully incensed, but when "homeland security" does it to some foreigner, it's OK. Never mind the bill of rights recognizes preexisting human rights instead of granting special citizenship privileges, too many of the Republicans seem happy to see this happen.

I think there is more to this story than just the phone and the only reason it was in the news at all was for political reasons. I guess that is why it went away in a few days and was never spoken of again. But if it is like you are describing, yes, that is exactly how it would go down. The USA is a bully of the rest of the world. I don't travel very often internationally, but i've not noticed that ever being the case in reverse.
