Kraken is the latest cryptocurrency exchange to restrict Russian users' accounts on its platform in compliance with European Union sanctions.
According to information published on the cointelegraph portal, the Kraken exchange sent e-mails to its Russian customers yesterday, October 19, announcing that the exchange is ceasing to provide services to its Russian customers.
The text of the aforementioned email reads, "Due to new European legislation, we have to take measures to restrict your Kraken account," according to an email statement Russian users could withdraw their funds upon request.
I should point out, that the Kraken exchange did not specify whether there is a time limit for withdrawing funds from the exchange for Russian citizens. A Kraken spokesman said that the firm complies with legal and regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions" of its operations..
