Canada followed suit with the US and dropped the interest down 0.25 bps to 2.0% my GICs will not come close to real inflation so I put the bulk of my Emergency cash into gold and silver 50/50 and hope I don't need it within the next 16 months.
I usually do the grocery shopping and I see this shrink-flation all the time in my stores. Currently one in five Canadian families use/need the food bank.
Wow, that seems high. But when I think of it, I think it's something crazy in America like 40% of households on food stamps or cash assistance. I don't know what it is here, but I'm sure it's also higher than I expect. I should look that up.
